But the laws supporters and enforcers dont want you to know that, because it would violate the Presidents incessantly repeated promise that nothing would change for the people that Obamacare doesnt directly help. If you shop for Obamacare-based coverage without knowing if you qualify for subsidies, you might be discouraged by the laws steep costs.
So, by analyzing your income first, if you qualify for heavy subsidies, the website can advertise those subsidies to you instead of just hitting you with Obamacares steep premiums. For example, the site could advertise plans that $0″ or $30″ instead of explaining that the plan really costs $200, and youre getting a subsidy of $200 or $170. But youll have to be at or near the poverty line to gain subsidies of that size; most people will either not qualify for a subsidy, or qualify for a small one that, net-net, doesnt make up for the laws cost hikes.
This political objectivemasking the true underlying cost of Obamacares insurance plansfar outweighed the operational objective of making the federal website work properly. Think about it the other way around. If the Affordable Care Act truly did make health insurance more affordable, there would be no need to hide these prices from the public.

This isn’t imcompetence, it’s a trap. I hope most of the people getting caught in it are Obama supporters.
Come on - we are talking about a gov't project here. Incompetent hackery is a much more likely explanation for the failure of the website than Machiavellian genius.
If the site does eventually get fixed, it will get hacked and mined for personal info.
Even though many of these people probably don’t have a lot of dough, they can still use the info to pose as medical providers and make false claims to insurance companies.
There is nothing wrong with evaluating the applicant's income to determine what level of subsidy they're eligible for and then displaying the net actual cost. To do anything else would be misleading.
....so what other product or service do you have to give all your financial/medical info before you get to the cost part...?
Like I’m gonna give a KNOWN ID THIEF like hussien my personal info!
Please clarify what you mean by “give all your medical info”.
Although this article concerns the fedgov exchange website, my state’s site required only that I give the ages of myself and family members and monthly gross income to get the premium and subsidy. There were no questions of any kind about medical history there or in the full application process (other than “Are you a smoker?”, sort of).
Ping for later

No, the point is you have to jump through a dozen hoops just to get basic obamacare information. You absolutely should not have to register to learn what the premiums are. They are deliberately making the website opaque and that is outrageous.
We have put up with this from the higher education establishment for many year. You are forced to divulge all of your income and wealth before they will tell you how much subsidy you can get. The liberals running our colleges have been running this scam for years unchallenged.
Sounds as though it should have been designed more like some of the state websites.
In fact, I had my premium and subsidy information about three weeks before the state website actually opened for applications, just using the front-end calculator they had. Also had the deductibles, OoP, etc., through the insurance company websites.
I still don’t believe they are deliberately making the fed website opaque or inaccessible, though. That’s silly.
Shhhhh. That's what they WANT you to think. But I've said too much already. One of the moderators is a mole and if he sees this . . .
Sadly, unless the whole damn bill is repealed we are ALL CAUGHT IN IT! This is heading toward the ultimate goal of the Marxists, Single Payer. It has always been one of their major goals.
Thus the inflated numbers of shoppers v. the pathetic numbers of actua sign-ups. When someone finally gets to the price, they exit.

Get with the program - it's all Machiavellian genius hiding behind incompetent hackery these days.
Once you gave them you name, date of birth and ssn they had access to your IRS and any on-line medical information. The reason that these systems are so slow is that they link to the IRS, Medical, Federal criminal, and other databases.
And then they try to get you to fill out an application so they can run your credit. And then they find some fly-by-night pawn shop lending institution to extend you a loan mortgage on the vehicle for the next 10 years.
If you tell them you just want to know what the sticker price of the vehicle is, the respond with - that's not how we're running the "sale."
I walked off two lots in Jville, NC (Camp Lejeune area) b/c of that style of nonsense.
But the short answer to your question: Conmen. Conmen selling products and services of any type require your financial information before you get the cost.
