Walmart shelves in Springhill, Mansfield, cleared in EBT glitch
KSLA ^

Shelves in Walmart stores in Springhill and Mansfield, LA were reportedly cleared Saturday night, when the stores allowed purchases on EBT cards even though they were not showing limits.

The chaos that followed ultimately required intervention from local police, and left behind numerous carts filled to overflowing, apparently abandoned when the glitch-spurred shopping frenzy ended. Springhill Police Chief Will Lynd confirms they were called in to help the employees at Walmart because there were so many people clearing off the shelves. He says Walmart was so packed, "It was worse than any black Friday" that he's ever seen. Lynd explained the cards weren't showing limits and they called corporate Walmart, whose spokesman said to let the people use the cards anyway. From 7 to 9 p.m., people were loading up their carts, but when the cards began showing limits again around 9, one woman was detained because she rang up a bill of $700.00 and only had .49 on her card. She was held by police until corporate Walmart said they wouldn't press charges if she left the food. Lynd says at 9 p.m., when the cards came back online and it was announced over the loud speaker, people just left their carts full of food in the aisles and left.

"Just about everything is gone, I've never seen it in that condition," said Mansfield Walmart customer Anthony Fuller.

Evans believes it was natural human reaction that led people to fill up their carts during the glitch, but Walmart shoppers Stan and Judy Garcia feel very differently. "That's plain theft, that's stealing that's all I got to say about it," said Garcia.

Not to blog-pimp (it’s not my blog), but read the blog “Charleston Thug Life” sometime. I won’t say it’s an eye-opener because I doubt you’re naive, but it puts a big bold underline underneath how little shame these people have in stealing from the government, businesses, and honest working citizens.

How many blacks walked away from this and said “that is stealing”? Bet you not a one.

The per capita amount of white-collar crime is higher for blacks than for whites.

Bet you not a one.

None I'm sure you're right, but it isn't so much a racial thing as it is a cultural thing. Blacks constitute slightly under half of the welfare recipients in the USA. (Of course they only compromise 13% of the population) So I'm going out on a limb here, and say that it is teh WELFARE CULTURE MENTALITY black and white that are the human cockroaches that plundered the Walmart.

“Walmart will probably have to eat the loss, being the difference between what they allowed people to buy, versus what they had on their cards.”

How were they supposed to know what was on their cards? They showed no limits. For all i know if they had imposed an arbitrary limit the feds would have gone after them.

If there's a glitch with the debt card system, I either have to use my card as a Visa Credit Card or write a check. I'm sure if the whole banking system went down, I would starve before Wal Mart would give me a pass like this. Once again, people on the dole are treated better than those who pay their bills.

“Too bad all the old Communists in office now won’t be here to see the results of their vote-buying programs.”

Bet your last dollar these commies will be reaping what they sow. These commies live in liberal cities or are bunched up in elitists compounds. When the feral animals come for them, they’ll fall by the thousands. These are our canaries in the liberal coal mine. All the pretorian guards will abandon their posts to protect their families. Think not? Go look at the LA riots. The cops hopped in their squads and drove home.

When the bils are paid, it will be a long time for the new credits to exceed the overdraft

And here I thought welfare recipients were too lazy to steal. Guess I was wrong.

Because they rightly assume you won't gather your 8 chilrens and dozen aunties and all their chilrens to loot and burn the store to the ground.

The fear of violent mobs is a powerful incentive.

When asked about the perishable food left behind in carts, Whaling would only say that “we monitored transactions during the outage.”

Whatever the feds do as far as turning off the system in the future I think it is safe to say Walmart is going to develop a policy that covers itself.

Have to wonder if this wasn’t intentional. Obama turns off the EBT just a few days before the debt ceiling expires so we can get a glimpse at what his army will do if we stop the redistribution.

One hell of a coincidence, dontcha think?

I already said this was a government dry run to see where they need to place ‘resources’ to control the mayhem.

Given that Harry Reid moved the goal posts last night again...demand is to put the sequester funds back into the budget.

They (democrats) have no intention on getting a deal.

People on the dole vote democrat multiple times.
People who pay their bills vote repub once or stay home because their candidate isn’t pure enough for them.

Poor things. Have to dip into their beer, cigarette, lotto ticket and dope money if they want to eat. I wonder how many have large expensive pets (It costs about $1500 a year to own a large dog about $780/year for a small one, cats about $640/year)

You, and people like you, wouldn't be trashing the store. The ferals would. The manager probably wanted to avoid a riot that would have been more destructive than giving them free stuff.

The EBT crowd is why I avoid Walmart like the plague. These people stand out like sore thumbs: they look, dress and act like total buffoons. But self important and entitled buffoons. And they are exceptionally rude & nasty to the poor Walmart cashiers trying to help them.
