NEWBURYPORT — Pat Vaillancourt went on a trip last week that was intended to showcase some of America’s greatest treasures.

Instead, the Salisbury resident said she and others on her tour bus witnessed an ugly spectacle that made her embarrassed, angry and heartbroken for her country....

For many hours her tour group, which included senior citizen visitors from Japan, Australia, Canada and the United States, were locked in a Yellowstone National Park hotel under armed guard.

Another example of the Park Service under President Obama's direction going out of their way to harass citizens, essentially keeping the park visitors under house arrest.

Apparently now you can't "recreate" without permission from the government.

Some of the actions of the park rangers described in the article seem like they may cross the line into illegal interference with the rights of the visitors.

Simply stunning. Even in the USSR, they had recreation guaranteed in their Constitution.

How long will it be before one of these feral government thugs opens fire on a disobedient subject?

It’s not just the Park Service although that’s an excellent example. The US is quickly becoming a nation ruled by fear and intimidation. It’s disgusting.

Hey MSM want to improve your ratings. Start putting these folks on TV with interviews. Also the elderly people in Lake Mead.

The bus stopped along a road when a large herd of bison passed nearby, and seniors filed out to take photos. Almost immediately, an armed ranger came by and ordered them to get back in, saying they couldn’t “recreate.” The tour guide, who had paid a $300 fee the day before to bring the group into the park, argued that the seniors weren’t “recreating,” just taking photos.

“She responded and said, ‘Sir, you are recreating,’ and her tone became very aggressive,” Vaillancourt said.

The seniors quickly filed back onboard and the bus went to the Old Faithful Inn, the park’s premier lodge located adjacent to the park’s most famous site, Old Faithful geyser. That was as close as they could get to the famous site — barricades were erected around Old Faithful, and the seniors were locked inside the hotel, where armed rangers stayed at the door.

Well there is an easy solution but someone’s not going to like it one bit.

Armed ranger's excuse: "We were just following orders..." Seems I've heard that before somewhere...

If this is how they treat people now, just wait until the “default.”

Why aren’t these citizens and especially foreign visitors being interviewed by the msm? We all know the reason for that, of course.

Disgusting...truly disgusting. Clown Prince nobama and his commie minions should be “run out of town on a rail.” The same is true here in S UT at Zion NP where you can drive through on the open state highway, but if you stop to “take pictures or recreate, you will be ticketed and fined”. Do we now live in a tyranny or what? Maybe I’ll drive through Zion today with my eyes closed. I wouldn’t want to steal any photons from the all-powerful commie government under Clown Prince nobama.

This absolutely can not be true, is it satire? Seniors were locked inside the hotel, armed rangers stayed at the door? Please, tell me this is not true, because if it is, there is much more going on than a government shutdown, and something has to be done.

Why do you want to put elderly people in Lake Mead?

The question to me is - where are the enterprising young journalists that want to make a name for themselves by exposing these Nazi tactics by our government? This teeny weeny newspaper in Lawrence MA is barely open. Where are the folks with a real megaphone in exposing this obviously absurd government action ?

This is unreal!!.....Gestapo redux!

I've been to Yellowstone....how in the world can you barricade Old Faithful??!!!!

I've took that 2-1/2 hour exit and it's long and older people need to stop and move around.

I'm very concerned why the park rangers should be so aggressive.

This is the most spiteful, mean spirited administration we've ever known.
