A Win for Public Black Colleges (Maryland told to eliminate programs at non-HBCUs)

The judge said that offering the same programs at HBCUs (historically black colleges and universities) and non-HBCUs discourages whites from attending HBCUs. Is Maryland supposed to eliminate thriving programs at non-HBCUs to force whites to attend HBCUs? Since all Maryland residents can apply to all schools, why should a federal judge be telling the state what programs to offer where?

Because he's smarter than the peasants. They don't know what's good for them. He/she/it does.

It’s more important for administrators to get points for increasing diversity at their institution than for students to get the best education available to them. A lot of the black students at these institutions, so I’ve heard, want them to keep their black identity and chose to go to them because they wanted an all-black environment—they could have attended a majority-white college if they had wanted to.

Maryland “Freak State” PING!

So, making some programs unique to black colleges will encourage whites to enroll there?

Does this meddling judge realize that no white person in his right mind would enroll in a black college nowadays, considering all the black-on-white attacks going on across the country? This, of course, is no fault of all the good, black students at these colleges, but the subset of young, violent black men will tarnish these institutions as long as these attacks go on.

Flame away.

I think it’s a way to get $$ to the HBCUs. I read where many of them are near-bankrupt. If Whites are forced to attend b/c it’s the ONLY place they can take the classes they want, well that puts a lot of money into HBCU coffers.
