The EU has started legal action against Russian energy giant Gazprom, the blocs competition chief said on Thursday (3 October).
The anti-Gazprom claims say it is abusing its dominant market position to demand extortionate prices for gas and preventing countries from diversifying their energy supply.
Lithuania says it pays 35 percent more than Germany for gas under its contract with Gazprom.

Oh, this should be good.
What are they going to do? Ban GaProm from selling in the EU?
It’s going to get mighty cold if they try that.
And? Then?
LOL
They are a monopoly originating in another country that is not really subject to laws of the EU, particularly since there is no viable way for the EU to deliver the same product to their own peeps.
*The politico/bureaucratic/media complex in Brussels and associated capitals are getting more and more like the court of Louis XVI. And they seem to be singing to the same tune as the mistress of his predecessor: Après nous, le déluge
Ruh Roh. Putin’s empire is folding even without us bombing Syria.
This won’t EU from smacking a large fine on foreign companies because of their monopoly position. Anyone remember the billion dollar fine on Microsoft because they included Internet explorer on their OS
correcton: This won’t stop EU..
First, we have this:
under European competition laws the UK may be forced to share the gas with other countries.
The Department for Energy and Climate Change has predicted gas prices in the UK could fall by as much as a quarter if the UK begins to exploit its natural reserves.
Apparently, Britain has enough natural gas locked in shale to provide energy for 400 years.
First, Ukraine and Lithuania extorted bargain price for gas threatening to block Gazprom further sales to the West via their own transit network. Now Gazprom and German companies invested billions to seize extortion and secure supply building undersea pipeline on the Baltic floor to bypass troublemaker and they are wondering their price is up? Isn’t something wrong with this picture?
