ObamaCare Employer Mandate: A List Of Cuts To Work Hours, Jobs
Investor's Business Daily ^ | September 25, 2013 | Jed Graham

ObamaCare's impact on jobs is hotly debated by politicians and economists. Critics say the Affordable Care Act, with its employer mandate to provide health insurance, gives businesses an incentive to cut workers' hours. This year, report after report has rolled in about employers restricting work hours to fewer than 30 per week — the point where the mandate kicks in. Data also point to a record low workweek in low-wage industries.

In the interest of an informed debate, we've compiled a list of job actions with strong proof that ObamaCare's employer mandate is behind cuts to work hours or staffing levels. As of Sept. 25, our ObamaCare scorecard included 313 employers. Here's our latest analysis, focusing on cuts to adjunct hours at nearly 200 college campuses. The ObamaCare list methodology is explained further in our initial coverage; click on the employer names in the list below for links to supporting records, mostly news accounts or official documents.

We'll continue to update the list, which we encourage you to share and download into a spreadsheet to sort and analyze. If you know of an employer that should be on the list and can provide supporting evidence, please contact IBD at jed.graham@investors.com.

As someone who worked at two state's unemployment offices for over 15 years, there in NO WAY that the few people left at those state offices will be able to handle assisting all those job seekers. Naturally, since it actually helps the private sector, it's been cut to the bone, unlike the welfare offices and other giveaway programs.

I tried to scan this quickly, so I may have missed this, but I remember IBM announce a few weeks ago that their retirees were going to be dumped onto the Obamacare plan (unless they are already under medicare).

Well, private business COULD benefit by collaborating with such offices. They are as much at fault for “letting uncle sugar do it all” as are deliberate welfare and unemployment bums.

Some do, since they realize that their unemployment insurance tax money is already going there. Those that do usually get better results than those who oppose the system or are “mad” that they have to pay UI payments. Once, when a Wal-Mart was opening nearby, we let their managers use our offices to interview the thousands of applicants they needed to see to staff an entire store. They were even seeing people in our rest rooms for lack of space! Some companies took advantage of this, of course [cough! Combined Insurance, cough! Primerica!] but most didn’t.

While it may be cruel, I’m not sorry to say it

The American workforce needs to be subjected to as much pain as possible to wake them up from there self absorbed distracted lifestyle. The voting majority needs to suffer, unfortunately we have to go along for the ride. But we can at least remind them every second of the ride.
