U.S. and international gay rights supporters called on Friday for a boycott of Italian pasta maker Barilla, whose chairman said he would never feature a gay family in its advertising.
The comments sparked a firestorm of protest on social media and resulted in online petitions in English, German and Italian, including one by Italian playwright and Nobel Prize winner Dario Fo.
A MoveOn.org petition started by Beth Allen, a Takoma Park, Maryland, mother of two and a lesbian, garnered 85,000 signatures by Friday evening. (Petition: http://r.reuters.com/paz43v)
"Guido Barilla made it clear how he felt about families like mine by saying that he'd never show gay families in advertisements for Barilla," Allen said in her petition.
"He said that gays could eat another pasta if they didn't like his message. I'm taking him up on that and so should you," she said.
Chairman Guido Barilla, 55, sparked the controversy with comments on Wednesday to an Italian radio station.
"I would never do (a commercial) with a homosexual family, not for lack of respect but because we don't agree with them. Ours is a classic family where the woman plays a fundamental role," he said....

Also have a coule discount stores that feature a big line of foreign foods -

Their site has a product locator. You click the category and product and your zip code.
Yes, they have whole grain pasta according to their website.
What was disrespectful about what he said? That he as a private business owner would never do an ad featuring a gay family? What new right have the gays got added in to the Constitution that says a private business must feature gays in their ads? They can boycott him, that’s their right. Funny how concerned they are that their “rights” are upheld while at the same time expecting everyone else to give up theirs. I’ll continue to buy Barilla pasta, screw the queers and their new world order.
Just checked my cupboard and I have several boxes of Barilla. I usually buy the on sale pasta but I will be sure to always buy Barilla
I was just going to ask, where can I buy some?
Must be the same clowns who thought they’d put Chick-Fil-A out of business.
I predict another ChicFilA increase in business.
good man. i’ll be buying some when i can.
I helped staff one of their plants in Iowa back in the 90’s. They are a top-flight company and only use select wheat for their pasta.
Barilla has been my favorite; now it is my exclusive brand.
Rigatoni, no doubt.
...that was pantry!

Correct it if you like ... but that was the best post on this thread! :o)
Barrila ads show a cute Italian couple sharing a noodle. Brand X breaks before the couple can kiss. Barrila pasta stays el donte all the way to the kiss. I didn’t like the ad before, I changed my mind. We’ve bought Barrila products in the past, they are our choice after this!
Oh here go the leftist hypocrites again who still ignore Alec Baldwins gays slurs.
If it’s not Barilla then it’s not pasta.
Great post Vet ... bump
>”not for lack of respect but because we don’t agree with them”<
Liberal tolerance does not allow for “disagreement”. You would think he is refusing to sell his products to Gays.
