About 350 homeless Superstorm Sandy evacuees who have been sleeping in New York City-funded hotel rooms for nearly a year may be forced to check out for good.
The city has spent $70 million to house more than 3,000 refugees since the storm hit last October, officials said. Each room costs about $266 per night.

266 a night!?!?!
what the heck! no motel 6’s were available for these leaches!?
We need to leave the light off for these leeches...
70,000,000 is probably enough to restore 300 homes or build 140 brand new ones.
mismanagement??
heck why care about how you spend someone else’s money??
this is not mismanagement this is insanity. people should be put in some hole somewhere.
The NOLA Katrina people, NOT the Biloxi ones, got free hotel rooms until RECENTLY, not to mention strippers, liquor, food, etc., etc.
Pure corruption on the part of whichever hotel owners had the in with the government.
They will suck the freebies until there are no more.
As we know.
All staying at the Bloomberg Hotel?
Seventy Million. Incredible insanity.
Honestly? It would not surprise me one iota if there were still Hurricane Katrina victims doing the same thing, and STILL living on the government’s bill.
If first hit me how bad problem-solving skill has become during Katrina. McDonald's and some other food chains could've fed those people if put in charge.
I think that GSA rates for the area are lower, so some type of services (cleaning, pools etc) may have been included.
Or we could just recognize that this city works best when two people can hand shake deals, with no oversight.

That’s incredible, especially when you consider that unlike the Sandy people, the NOLA people were never going back to their former homes (they will never be rebuilt).
