Why arent Christian women interested in theology? I often hear that question (usually from men), and Im never sure how to answer. Thats likely because I cant relate to the premise that Christian women arent interested in theologythe study of God...

This Christian woman LOVES theology and doctrine.
That is a pity because it is a great article.
A love so unconditional and yet so irresitable. And an Assurance because of what God has done in you and not because what you did.
Good theology shows God to be absolutely Soveregn over all things alone yet has not left folks like us alone. It shows that God is good alone and that His very character is Love.
I hardly ever go to bible studies with the women because they are so rooted in emotion. I won’t say they seem silly, but I feel unfed by them.
I don’t think it’s just women. Non-logical thinking is a sign of the times. Just look at the really old hymns. They are all exercises in theology. Look at what they teach in schools.
IMHO, people are slowly being dumbed down.
I, too, love theology and always loved Sunday School. One dream was to go to Westminster Theological Seminary, but went off the straight and narrow for many years. When things get tough for me it is the passage from Habakkuk that is with all my bookmarkers (pics and memorabilia) in my Bible:
“Though the fig tree should not blossom,
And there be no fruit on the vines,
Though the yield of the olive should fail,
And the fields produce no food,
Though the flock should be cut off from the fold,
And there be no cattle in the stalls,
Yet I will exult in the LORD,
I will rejoice in the God of my salvation.”
Hab 3:17 & 18
One of my favorite Scriptures, too...thanks for the reminder.
One I read this morning that encouraged:
Praise be to the Lord, to God our Savior,
who daily bears our burdens.
Our God is a God who saves;
from the Sovereign Lord comes escape from death.
Psalm 68:19-20
Actually, the entirety of Psalm 68 is great: God pulverizes His enemies while His people rejoice in His Kingdom and Presence.
Ps 68 sounds like the Return!
I agree with you, I cannot stand “how does this make you feel” or how do you think God feels”. I feel very blessed, when I was a young Christian a friend introduced me to Precepts Inductive Studies. We dig into the Word and I have learned so much from doing these studies. You might see if they have one in your area, you will be fed in these studies.
Excessive emotional content in the church has been a great source of turmoil in my life. I'm still trying to find a stable source of good, theological feeding.
Ligonier is awesome.
Ligonier connect is a ministry that for $9 a month you can enroll in one of 45 online courses, get sound theological teaching.
Awesome stuff.
Do you happen to have a link for that?
I know that Ligonier is based in FL and I noticed your screen name. Are you connected with them?
Thanks.
