Bravo Ted Cruz. Bob Corker, Sit Down.
Townhall.com ^ | September 20, 2013 | Hugh Hewitt

Texas Senator Ted Cruz is drawing a lot of ire and fire from the Beltway GOP.

The eloquent and passionate Texas freshman has raised the hair on necks of the Republicans who sought a deal to avoid the unpleasantness of brinksmanship with the most incompetent president of modern times.

It is absolutely the case that the GOP will, in the end, have to vote for a Continuing Resolution that funds Obamacare. It will require winning the Senate for the GOP in 2014 and the presidency in 2016 to repeal Obamacare.

Cruz's strategy right now is to mobilize the public in 2013 so that those goals are possible in 2014 and 2016. Principled conservatives can disagree on tactics, and even on strategy, but they cannot disagree on the fact that Obamacare is killing jobs and the American health system.

Cruz and his fellow gifted rhetoricians Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio have all inveighed against Obamacare consistently and for months. They have a plan to keep the fiasco that is Obamacare front and center of the American people, and they are working the plan. They are building a movement, not a dance card, in D.C.

The House Republican leadership would have mostly preferred to fade the issue, hoping that events would break their way or at least resolve in some sort of bipartisan consensus.

Events broke their way only in the fact that this disaster of a president was revealed to the world by Vladimir Putin as a bumbling, stumbling incompetent that only the Beltway GOP could not flank.

This president won't stand up to Assad or Putin, but he will bully Beltway Republicans. That's what he does. It is the only thing he has done well in the past five years.

But the four aces of the GOP in the Senate won't be intimidated and won't be bullied, even when their colleague John McCain calls them "whacko birds."

Cruz and his colleagues rallied hundreds of thousands of voters to sign on to the effort to defund Obamacare. That's called building a network that can be mobilized in future elections. That's called playing to win, now and in 2014 and 2016.

Even as I was talking with Senator Cruz about the end game, though, a long line of Republican time-servers lined up to criticize the Texas senator for daring to rally the troops and charge the hill.

The stunner came from entitled Tennessee senator Bob Corker, a very wealthy guy who won a very narrow victory in his first Senate race in 2006 with the help of serious conservatives of the sort now supporting Ted Cruz. Senator Corker won a comfortable re-election in 2012, so he thinks he doesn't need those sort of people any more. Thus he snidely attacks their favorite new face in D.C., demonstrating both envy and a profound ignorance of how quickly six years pass.

Corker, a household name in the Corker household, is a graduate of the University of Tennessee, which I had always thought a prestigious university until today. Corker made a lot of bucks in the development biz. Like Terry McAullife. Like Terry McAuliffe, Senator Corker has a hard time cabining his contempt for people who refer ideas to bank balances.

Recall that Cruz is the son of an immigrant and an exile, that Cruz is a self-made man and a genuine intellectual, who has argued eight times before the Untied States Supreme Court.

Recall that Cruz is everything anyone would want a second generation American to be --or an any generation American to be.

So what did Corker snark out over Twitter on Thursday?

Senator Bob Corker

@SenBobCorker

14h

I didn’t go to Harvard or Princeton, but I can count -- the defunding box canyon is a tactic that will fail and weaken our position. –BC

Get it? That climber, that immigrant's kid who did good in school and excelled at Princeton and Harvard Law and is oh so smart, well Bob Corker thinks he needs to sit down and shut up. Just like Clarence Thomas needed to sit down and shut up in 1991. Just like all the Tea Party nutters need to sit down and shut up. The rich guys who bought their seats have this one. Leave it to the guys who golf.

Speaker John Boehner's aides are flooding the Huffington Post with anonymous quotes blasting Cruz for forcing the House to force the Senate Democrats to get endangered Senate Democrats Begich of Alaska, Landrieu of Louisiana, Shaheen of New Hampshire, Pryor of Arkansas and Udall of Colorado to vote again for or against Obamacare, thus opening them up for devastating and deserved attacks in 2014.

The K Street Republicans, however, are really and truly enraged that Cruz is trying to win the Senate back and really intends to get rid of Obamacare. The country club Republicans are upset he didn't wait his turn and is getting more press than they are.

Bravo, Ted Cruz. And Mike Lee, Rand Paul and Marco Rubio. Press on. The country's in a bad place with a lost-in-space president. Ignore the sniping from the time-servers and the past-their-sell-date GOP. Reagan would be applauding.

Corker...That damn backbencher who only poked his head up from the GOP-E nest to try to sell us out with the Corker–Hoeven amendment (i.e. Immigration bill).

We need a security detail around Sen. Cruz, Lee, and other true conservatives to keep these grand old parasites away.

Surprizing remarks from a source who runs from alternating to direct comments and Romney supporter Lawyer Hewitt.

In the News/Activism forum, on a thread titled Bravo Ted Cruz. Bob Corker, Sit Down., 4rcane wrote:

A BIG YEA AND THANKS FOR THAT RESPONSE... I completely forgot and was around when that was done by the then called DEMOCRATS....Conservative responses should reference that and its aftermath ...Led by the socialists now in control of todays God denying Demo-Com party. Here an idea:

The last time the socialists did this was Viet Nam it cost millons of lives and lost a country...Our defunding will be saving loves and saving oour country..

Probably a million Viet Namese died because they relied on US plus the thousands of American lives expended on a war lost by by the very people ruining the US today.

One of the pseudo conservatives being quoted blasting Cruz locally is newly elected comgressman WI 7th Shawn (Lumberjack) Duffy. He did so on Mhlwaukee’s Charley Sykes’s WTMJ am 620 weekday 8:30 to noon show. Now Sykes was an active Romney supporter and played a key role in getting Herman Cane dumped during the 2012 primaries.

Unless House members are living under a rock they all know it’s a gamble on what the Senate will do. The attack on Cruz is being led by Priebus/Rove faction whom Duffy is closely tied to.

Any rebuttals to his his efforts should include references ; Not believing in working bi-partisanship with people who want to make she/he’s or she /he’s out of both scouting groups....

The only thing people need to know is that the President and Congress have exempted themselves from this god-awful program. We should be sending letters and emails non-stop to our Senators and Congressmen threatening to throw the whole bunch out unless they either join in on the fun or stop this atrocity.

The pols know the O/Care ship is listing---maybe ready to heave into the Potomac, maybe do a Costa Concordia.

THE BAD NEWS KEEPS COMING Reuters reports the US government on Wednesday scaled back its projections for Obamacare's impact in 2014, saying the law would generate slower healthcare spending growth and provide coverage to only half as many of America's uninsured as anticipated last year.

The biggest factor in the change stems from the U.S. Supreme Court verdict last year allowing each state to decide whether to expand the public Medicaid program for the poor under Obama's healthcare reform law. Republican leaders in nearly half of the nation's 50 states have rejected the expansion.

HHS now expects 11 million uninsured Americans to obtain coverage next year, down from about 22 million projected a year ago, according to the report, which appeared in the journal Health Affairs. (Excerpt) Read more at reuters.com ...

=====================================================

There's also lawsuits and state problems.

HERE'S HOW THEY'RE STOPPING OBAMACARE A West Virginia nonprofit has turned down a federal grant it received to help residents navigate new health insurance options under the Affordable Care Act after it received an inquiry from Attorney General Patrick Morrisey about how it would protect consumer information. Clarksburg-based West Virginia Parent Training Inc. did not respond to a letter it received from Morrisey directing it to answer 26 questions about the group's personnel and hiring practices, including employee background checks and employee monitoring programs, the Sunday Gazette-Mail (http://bit.ly/17M1QVe) reported. (Excerpt) Read more at sanluisobispo.com ...

YOUR TURN--Contact your state AG---ask him/her to issue a letter of inquiry to groups receiving federal "Navigator" grants. The inquiry should center on questions WRT how the group intends to protect consumer data.

In particular, the questionnaire should ask if the tax-funded "Navigator" program intends to transfer personal/ financial/medical data of the insured to the local/county/national Democrat Party, relevant Unions, banks, investment companies, drug companies, insurance companies. Trial Lawyers' associations and whether "Navigators" have sub rosa contracts with these, and other groups, plan to profit, to provide significant info to enrich databases for pecuniary purposes.

PLANNED PARENTHOOD WILL HAVE ACCESS TO SS#, TAX, MEDICAL INFORMATION
Breitbart Big Government ^ | 8/23/2013 | William Bigelow / FR Posted by markomalley

EXCERPT Planned Parenthood is about to obtain access to your Social Security number, tax form, bank account, and medical records.

With the advent of ObamaCare, consumers buying health insurance through health care exchanges will be required to speak to “navigators.” “Navigators” are supposed to help consumers find the best coverage and ascertain whether they are eligible for a federal subsidy.

Any “navigator” will have access to the federal data hub, which holds information from the Department of Health and Human Services, the IRS, the Social Security Administration, the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the Defense Department, the Office of Personnel Management, the Veterans Health Administration, and the Peace Corps.

Planned Parenthood received $655,000 from the Obama administration to hire navigators. In Iowa, Planned Parenthood of the Heartland received $214,427; in Montana, Intermountain Planned Parenthood, Inc. got $295,604; and in New Hampshire, Planned Parenthood of Northern New England raked in $145,161.

And there is not much scrutiny over who these “navigators” will be; HHS will not require background checks or fingerprinting, and a previous criminal conviction, even if it was for identity theft , will not trigger a rejection. To make matters worse, the administration has cut the new employees’ training from 30 hours to 20 and reduced screening.

===========================================

OKLAHOMA WINS FIRST OCARE BATTLE: Quoting AG Pruitt--- "Obamacare was meant to be so open-ended that it could mean anything. We are seeing thousands of pages of new rules being written, both by HHS and the IRS. The open-ended interpretation of Obamacare enables this.....if the law doesn't contain a particular provision, no problem. They just make it up as they go along."

"Such is the case that involves the OK lawsuit."

“The court rejected the federal government’s argument that Oklahoma lacked standing to challenge the law, allowing us to proceed with this pivotal case,” “We’re optimistic the court will recognize what states have known for months that the IRS disregarded the law by making the large employer mandate effective in Oklahoma or in any of the 33 other states without a state health care exchange.”

REFERENCE Oklahoma challenged implementation of the Affordable Care Act after the IRS finalized a rule that would allow the federal government to punish “large employers,” including local government, with millions of dollars in tax penalties in states without state health care exchanges, which is not allowed under the health care law.

“Congress provided a choice for Oklahoma and other states in implementation of the health care law, and the IRS is attempting to take that away by rule,” General Pruitt said. “The administration miscalculated how many states would support this law, so now they’re using the IRS to push through provisions that Congress did not pass.”

PROTECT YOURSELF---Obamacare is easy pickins for identity thieves.

Steps to take to minimize risk of identity theft:

1. Contact the IRS Identity Protection Specialized Unit at 1-800-908-4490

2. Order a tax account transcript from the IRS that verifies basic personal data along with details of your tax return filed, which may come in handy if you are checking to see whether someone else filed a fraudulent return on your behalf

The Federal Trade Commission (link at website) also lists several steps you must take if you have been a victim of identity theft.

While that is true you are forgetting that we don't have the Senate and if all the Republicans in the Senate vote with the Republican majority in the House dingy Harry Reid won't let the vote go forward and send the bill to the White House. And if he does and the arrogant pos occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave vetoes the bill, like he threatens to do, the bill will most likely not be overridden as it needs 2/3 votes in the House to override the veto, and while we have the majority in the House 231 are not enough for 2/3 that are needed, unless about 60 democrats go with us. In the Senate it is guaranteed that all the rats are going with the occupant of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave and you can bet that the RINOS will also.

This all could have been avoided if peoples had listened to me in the 2012 election and focused especially on the Senate. We could have taken the majority over from the rats. We also could have gained more seats in the House.

Of course there is also a chance that 0bama's threat is just like any of his empty promises, but this time I am not betting or counting on it,

Obamacare probably got set in stone when the Republicans did not strip it out of the last CR. It surely becomes irremovable after they push it through again this time. And yes, they will push it through. They do not oppose it. They want it. There is more day to day political hay to be made with it for incumbents than anything else that could ever come up. Once it is fully operational then all future elections will be run on tweaking Healthcare for this group or that group and the incumbent will always have the edge in that game. Of course, obamacare will only last a little while and it will be obviously unworkable and will be replaced with the Single Payer that was the objective all along and the Republicans will support that, too- after all, we've got to replace obamacare!

The toatalitarian portions of obamacare that only tangentially relate to Health if at all will not, of course, go away when OCare is replaced by SP but will rather be strengthened but by that time it really won't matter any more.
