TRAZADONE: 13 Dead in Washington DC Naval Yard Shooting

The New York Times released the fact that over the past month Aaron Alexis has been on the antidepressant, Trazadone, to treat insomnia. ( quotes below.) Of course I am not finished asking questions. I want to know what he was on before this that may have induced his serious problems with insomnia. Was that yet another antidepressant? Was he in withdrawal from an antidepressant before the Trazadone which causes terrible insomnia? How many times had he been on and off an antidepressant? Considering the way the military hands them out like candy and stops them abruptly ... the options are endless. Considering also that he had plenty of the drug he could have attempted to overdose the night before in an impulsive suicide attempt. That can also be the case when it turns into a shooting like this because the brain toxicity seems to hit before the toxicity that would bring death.

"On Aug. 23, Mr. Alexis went to Veterans Affairs hospitals in Providence, where he had been working as a contractor, complaining of insomnia but did not say that he was hearing voices, according to a federal official. Mr. Alexis said he could not sleep for more than a few hours. Doctors there prescribed...(Click link below to continue reading)

The SSRI antidepressants have a noted side effect of "homicidal tendencies". Virtually all of these type events have a common linkage to usage of these mind alterating drugs. Do you think it may be time to investigate this perhaps?

It figures.

When are we going to find out what kind of drugs the Sandy Hook and Aurora shooters were taking?

I’m stunned the New York Times would report this - it’s not the liberal meme...

This begs for a major investigation. These drugs have “homicide” along with “suicide” listed as side effects. From what I have seen virtually ALL of the shooters in these type of events have been on these drugs. Are we going to just ignore this?

Trazadone is not an SSRI and otherwise is a benign, often useless drug. The worst side effect he may have experienced was a raging 8 hour erection. The guy was mentally ill for some time, as documented, and this the simplest and by far the most likely explanation for his violent spree.

Yes, Hillary and Huma have quite the collection. Now FOCUS on the question.

Trazadone is an older SARI-class antidepressant, not an SSRI.

But, true, the “S’ does stand for Serotonin and it does affect the same neurochemistry.

Generally, though, the time these drugs are most noted for creating or exacerbating violent tendencies (toward one’s self or others) is when the dosage is changing up or down. I don’t know if that was the case here.

Be advised the author Ann Tracy is not a medical doctor and has no psychiatric training. She has a relatively meaningless doctorate in "Health sciences with emphasis on psychology," which basically means a whole lot of nothing.

Trazadone is routinely used as a night time soporific because it generally has the side effect of causing drowsiness, although it is not totally reliable at that. It is not much used as an antidepressant because it never proved to be very effective for that purpose.

This man had a serious mental disorder and was violent for years before the recent shooting. Trazadone was the least of his problems.

Trazadone is a benign drug. Really?

Do you think that side effects such as: Hostility, Aggressiveness, Hallucinations, Panic attacks and suicidal thoughts and behavior are “benign effects” ? Really?

Even the hormones in “natural” cures for insomnia can cause mood swings.

All the mass murderers who gunned down innocents were on psychoactive drugs... and they were all democrats or children of democrats...

Trazodone is a hundred years old and not a spooky drug. Its usually written in low bedtime dose to knock people out, like 50mg or so. Once every couple years you’ll see someone taking a few hundred mgs a day, like when nothing else has worked and there’s nothing else to try, and they walk around like zombies.

I’ve been taking Trazadone every night for the last three years for insomnia, and sleepwalking. I can now sleep through the night and I haven’t tried to kill anyone.

Nidal Hassan and Aaron Alexis were huge Democrat Obama supporters. We need to look into what code words or dog-whistles Barack Hussein Obama (mmm mmm mmm) has been using to set off these homicidal maniacs.
