“Apparently, this is an example, if one is ever needed, where Israeli interests diverge from American interests, for those who are sometimes confused. It’s not in America’s interest to be on the same side as al Qaeda.”

It’s not America’s interest to be on the side of Syria, Iran and Russia either. All those road side bombs in Iraq are manufactured in Iran by the way. They have our blood on their hands jut as much as Al’Qaeda does.

“All this switching and counter-switching sides is making me dizzy!”

I agree. Reminds me of my girls when they were in their teens trying to decide what to wear.

Back and forth,back and forth.

The world is getting stranger and stranger.

“...assuming the USA can’t be snookered into doing their fighting for them [Israel] , as in Iraq.”

Proof? Links?

And do us all a favor, no Ron Paul quotes, quotes from a Ron Paul-inspired website, and no BS from Pat Buchanan.

Ball’s in your court.

Really stupid of Bibi to go down this road.

I am sure he has his reasons.... Bibi is a shewd man who understands the Middle East far better than we do. While I am a bit surprised by this I can’t help but wonder if Bibi knows that Assad will fall.

If that is the case why not?

Israel knows that desperate Assad with his chemical weapons and nuclear Iran are a bigger threat than some ragtag disorganized rebels. Once Assad falls the rebels will fight among themselves.

They probably figure they are gonna be dealing with a Syria led by tyrants who view them as a cancerous tumor to be excised from the Middle East . But if Assad falls, they at least get a break from having to deal with one of their worse enemies while said enemy is going through prolonged inner turmoil.

“Obama has pushed Bibi to side with the Muslim Brotherhood.”

Israel is looking for its own interests — a well armed state of Arab shites backed by extremist Iranian shites is NOT preferable to rag-tag bunch of sunni extremists backed by equally rag-tag sunni extremists in exile.

Bottomline: a well established shite terrorist threat is worse for Israel than a bumbling bunch of sunni terrorists.

It sure is...and I don’t like the direction it’s going in! Just hope the strangeness can be reversed. I feel like an alien in my own land. :(

Why did the 600,000 arabs leave, and why did 600,000 Jews leave the surrounding arab “nations” a a few years later? /tapping fingers...

If the Arab world's about to invade Syria the way they attacked the Jewish settlements in the Palestine Mandate during the 1948 war, I'm not seeing any signs of it. Obviously Mizrahi Jews paid a serious price for Israel's creation, but they were being singled out even before that. Net-net I'd say those who survived came out ahead. And for those who died? Light a candle... Alawites might be going through a similar state creation process, with the Russians acting as godfather to ensure the process goes smoothly.

Even Assad's defeat by al Qaeda-aligned rebels would be preferable to Damascus's current alliance with Israel's arch-foe Iran, Ambassador Michael Oren said in an interview with the Jerusalem Post.

huh? Not sure why they would think that way but it is their ass on the line so I do respect their opinion.

I do not believe they are much worried about radical islam taking root in the region, as they are well able to defend themselves (assuming the USA can’t be snookered into doing their fighting for them, as in Iraq).

You are smoking some strong stuff. To say Israel is not concerned about radical Islam in its region is as dumb as it gets. And George Bush invaded Iraq for his own reasons such as 911.... another hallucination of yours

I agree, and I don’t understand why some folks don’t get it. Maybe because Assad’s weakness makes him more restrained about Israel, whereas the loons in al Qaeda are never restrained. But when it comes to capabilities they’re less of threat. And Assad has chemical weapons. Al Qaeda’s chemicals are very unsophisticated types.

Regardless of the details it looks like Netanyahu is in alignment with AIPAC now and AIPAC is aligned with Obama, McCain and Graham, not to mention the Saudis, Qataris, Al Jazeera and Al Quaeda on Syria.

There’s money in this for Lindsey Graham’s primary fight in South Carolina next year AIPAC and the Gulf oil sheikhs.

Bibi is coming to Washington at the end of the month and he will no doubt be lobbying to create some support for military action in Syria. Obama has to have public support before he would give a thumbs up on that.

"Putin is starting to look like the only good kid on the block."

That's why he's assisting the mullahs in Iran to develop a nuke... Wait... Never mind.

With respect to Vlad I must paraphrase Cleveland Brown of Family Guy, "there's nothing good about what he does or who he is.". Obama is evil. I'm not disputing that, but Putin isn't better. I wish everyone on this forum would understand that.

"Israel is looking for its own interests"

Yes they are and they know thier fate lies in O's hands so when O says support my Saudi master's position on Syria. Bibi has no choice but to do so, no choice at all. Now if Israel was allowed to act in it's own best interests instead of the of Saudis it would say nothing publicly.
