I’ve heard that other cities have built stadiums in bad neighbrohoods.

Why do they do this? Is the land cheaper? Less opposition from citizen groups? Less environmental impact if a stadium is in a bad area?

I don’t know every city of course, but I’ve heard from a number of people who have lived in and been to games in other cities the fear that you feel when you are in a bad area.

They have a perfectly good site in Doraville with easy access to public transportation....but the Atlanta Mayor Kasim Reed pulled out all the stops to keep the team in the city proper.

It's very close to a nasty neighborhood and they have a lot of trouble with "aggressive panhandlers".

Why build stadiums in depressed areas?

1. Less likely that eminent domain claims will be challenged.
2. Lower overall property cost.
3. And...the libtards’ favorite: The new stadium will raise the overall economic level of the entire area, spur new growth and development, and elevate the poor out of their misery.

It gets rid of the riff raff and disperses them to other locations only to once again, create another “bad neighborhood”.
