This calls for a more thorough examination.

Agreed. Took the words right outta my mouth.

I don’t think they’re wearing the proper safety gear for such a dangerous occupation.

Do you think those boots have steel toes?

I don’t either!

My friend’s daughter started high school and began cheerleading this month. During the first practice, they did that pyramid maneuver, and my friend’s girl was the one on top. The pyramid collapsed, and she injured her leg when she fell to the ground. On the way down, her knee hit another girl in the head and knocked her senseless.

The problem with the danger in cheer is that because it’s not considered a sport (we’re talking at the bureaucratic level here) it doesn’t have to follow the rules sports do. Rule about safety equipment, medical professionals on stand-by, medical training for coaching staff. Look at one of the other replies to me, first practice they make a human tower close to 3 stories tall, two injuries. That’s not commitment and pushing themselves, that’s grownups not being responsible making kids do things too dangerous too soon without any precautions.

High school cheer has gotten way too fond of altitude, and has no concept of safety precautions. It’s telling that the people that are putting the most effort into keeping it from being declared a sport are the people that work in it, they don’t want the additional rules and supervision. Anybody in charge of kids that doesn’t want to be supervised needs to be.

The whole family tried to talk my almost 13 year old niece out of cheerleading for those very reasons. As the smallest she would have been the one tossed in the air. Turned out her lack of boobs ruined her chances-and we were relieved!

Cheerleading can be dangerous for the ground, too.

Sounds like another “we hate (Sport) because pretty girls are in it”

You will never hear from the liberal media how many girls suffer debilitating injuries from basketball, softball, and other sports where comprised of lesbians and less attractive and athletic women. Fact is a lot of girls and women tear up their knees and have other debilitating injuries in many sports

Cheerleading emphasizes athlectic ability, along with appearance. The latter drives the lesbos nuts. You see this same attack when the lesbos go after gymnastics and skating.

In her last act as Secretary of Homeland Security, Janet Napolitano created a special division of the agency to investigate the activities of female cheerleaders. She became particularly engaged, she said, when watching them compete. "I love watching their form, and, uh, grace."
