The sword is not a beheading sword. I suspect that the beheading was unbelievably painful. The man probably screamed until he died.

Look at the shadow. If this is a beheading, why is the point of the sword not at or at least near the neck? What am I missing here?

Never mind. My old eyes have difficulty with smaller images. I see that the shadow is the knife, not the sword.
