The New York Police Department had legitimate reasons to put mosques and Muslim worshippers under surveillance as part of its counterterrorism efforts, a city lawyer said Thursday at the first court date in a civil rights lawsuit accusing the NYPD of religious profiling.
Peter Farrell of the city Law Department argued that before the case goes forward, the city should be allowed to present evidence specific to the six plaintiffs that he said would prove police were acting on reasonable suspicion. If the judge agrees, "then this case is over," he said.
An American Civil Liberties Union attorney, Hina Shamsi, countered that her clients already had sufficient legal standing to sue the city and that the NYPD should be ordered to begin turning over sensitive reports and documents detailing the alleged spying on Muslims.

what a refreshing idea!
They are suspected of smoking, eating salt and drinking large sodas.
Move along, now.
Nothing to see here.
They’re ALL the pResident’s sons and daughters, don’cha know.
“religious profiling”? Why is that an issue now, when Christians have been “religiously profiled” against by the Left for years?

A number of years ago I went into my local Grocery store and saw something very disturbing.
This was in August and it was 90 degrees outside and with the humidity, over 100 on the heat index.
This guy, clearly Arab, was walking around the store wearing a parka, with his hood up and carrying a backpack. I became very uneasy by his lack of purpose as I followed him around the store. I wish I had a camera to document this.
I wish I had said something.
He did however, look like he was stoned out of his mind.
Damn right it is.
Thanks markomalley.
Perhaps a former member of the ‘Choom Gang’.
PC is a joke.
Was he carrying a pressure cooker?
I don’t think he was carrying one, but he may have been shopping for one.
Like I said, very strange for a guy to be dressed as if it were 30 degrees outside while it was 90 plus.
He caught my attention almost immediately as I entered the store. I watched what he was doing, and he didn’t seem to have any interest in actually shopping. I started to pick up a few items as I kept an eye on him. At one point I moved down the aisle to get a better view, and as I said, he looked stoned out of his mind.
Walking aimlessly, wearing full winter clothing in 90 degree plus weather.
Very odd.
Very Arab.
If it wasn’t for the fact that I thought he was on drugs, I would have either called someone ?
Or, just beat the crap out of him.
