John Boehner must cut loose the Tea Party
Washington Post ^ | Sept 11, 2013 | By Greg Sargent

Posted on 09/11/2013 11:41:50 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Here’s the read among Congressional Dems on this fall’s fiscal fights. At some point, House GOP leaders will have to pass an important bill with a lot of Democratic support — stiff-arming the Tea Party in the process. GOP leaders are trying to defer that moment for as long as possible, but there’s just no clear way around it. Multiple reports this morning tell us House GOP leaders are struggling to round up support among House

Republicans for their new strategy for the fall. They are proposing a vote on a measure that would temporarily fund the government at current sequester levels, with another measure attached to it that would defund Obamacare. The Dem-controlled Senate would pass the first but not the second; conservatives would get to vote to defund Obamacare; the House GOP would dodge blame for a shutdown.

But conservatives are rejecting the approach because, well, it wouldn’t defund Obamacare. And let’s face it, this strategy is rooted in fear. House GOP leaders don’t want to tie Obamacare defunding to a government funding bill because it will pass the House and force a shutdown confrontation that they will lose. But conservatives won’t be happy until they have that confrontation. And as David Drucker reports, this has “frustrated” more sober minded House Republicans who understand that this crusade is reckless, counterproductive and self destructive.

Right now, it’s unclear whether House Republicans can even pass their latest funding gimmick out of the House, because House Dems won’t support it and House conservatives won’t either because it won’t ultimately defund Obama’s tyrannical law. So House leaders are promising to fight the good fight in the next battle...

The Republicans and the Tea Party should figure out a way to get together, and stop fighting each other. It would probably take some changes in Republican leadership, but it would be worth it.

I'm certain the writers of the Washington Post have no reason to demand Boehner get rid of the tea party.......

Nope, no agenda here, move along. Lib journalists have the best of intentions for conservatives.

Boner’s arm is only stiff with a drink in his hand. The author has to be careful what he wishes for. Boner will be out as speaker in a heartbeat.

Well, I see two problems:

First, the Dems are scheming to get the Tea Party into a hissy-fight with the “country-club” Republicans so the Dems can retain control of the Senate in 2014 and maybe even retake control of the House.

Divide and conquer, right! Works every time!

All it takes is for the Tea Party and the GOP to waste themselves FIGHTING ONE ANOTHER! The phrase “stupid party” quickly comes to mind.

And so we have in Alaska maybe four Republican challengers trying to smear one another so that a WEAK Democrat can be re-elected Senator.

And in South Carolina, we have three “conservatives” trying to turn one another into “road-kill”. Of course, Senator Graham is smiling. If the “conservatives” destroy one another, Graham will keep his seat!

Second, I think the Dems really, REALLY want the Tea Party to use the current budget process to try to de-fund ObamaCare -— BEFORE winning control of the Senate.

Then, the Dems can stop mailing out Social Security checks, stop military paychecks, shut-down air travel and do any other other dirty trick they can imagine while placing all the blame for these bounced checks and other failures to perform on the Tea Party Republicans.

Illegal? Of course? Unfair? Of course! Do Dems care? No!

THEN, the 2014 election will be a landslide victory for the Dems. Afterwards, the GOP AND the Tea Party will not be able to block any attack on our Constitution that the Dems think up. Our two NEW Supreme Court Justices, Janet Napolitano and Hillary Clinton will see to that.

Higher taxes? Count on them!
Gun Control? Of course!
Voter fraud? Would never be found among Dems, would it?

Before talking tough, please consider Dirty Harry’s advice: “You’ve got to know your limitations...

BS, we’re cutting them loose!

On the Syria vote, we won overwhelmingly. Bohner marshaled a dozen lawmakers. We secured most of the rest.
The only thing left to do is devour the leadership once and for all.

Tell that to the GOPe. They’ve been trashing the Tea Party for years. Whenever one of ours wins a Primary (NV, AK to name two. Oh, and DE too. Almost forgot the one they called a witch), the rat-bastard GOPe stabs them in the back by yanking all the campaign funding. The Tea Party candidates don’t do that when they lose. The ill-will is on their side, not ours.

As for the SC Primary, you should be reminded there will be a runoff required if Lindsey-girl can’t get 50%, and the more opponents he has, the better.

Cut loose? The TEA Party doesn’t include him in their ranks. How is going to cut them loose?

The author has it backwards. The Tea Party needs to dump Boehner. We should put up a primary candidate against him.

Boehner needs to go. For some he is a good guy and for others he is a not too good guy. But my reason is, he cannot articulate anything good or bad and thus a poor leader.

The tea party was the best thing to hit the GOP since Reagan. Or could have been had they embraced it. And embraced the spirit of liberty. The last several elections would have been Republican landslides.

I wish I could draw. I’d have John Boehner cutting off the tail of a dog, with the dog named Tea Party and the tail named GOP Leadership. Or you could have Boehner sitting on a tree branch cutting off the tree (Tea Party).

I do!

I answer money solicitations from the Republican Party with comments, advice and complaints, but never money.

Instead, I give my money directly to the candidates I like.

Time will tell, but I fear the “divide and conquer” strategy will give Graham another term.
