John Boehner must cut loose the Tea Party
Washington Post ^ | Sept 11, 2013 | By Greg Sargent

Posted on 09/11/2013 11:41:50 AM PDT by Jim Robinson

Here’s the read among Congressional Dems on this fall’s fiscal fights. At some point, House GOP leaders will have to pass an important bill with a lot of Democratic support — stiff-arming the Tea Party in the process. GOP leaders are trying to defer that moment for as long as possible, but there’s just no clear way around it. Multiple reports this morning tell us House GOP leaders are struggling to round up support among House

Republicans for their new strategy for the fall. They are proposing a vote on a measure that would temporarily fund the government at current sequester levels, with another measure attached to it that would defund Obamacare. The Dem-controlled Senate would pass the first but not the second; conservatives would get to vote to defund Obamacare; the House GOP would dodge blame for a shutdown.

But conservatives are rejecting the approach because, well, it wouldn’t defund Obamacare. And let’s face it, this strategy is rooted in fear. House GOP leaders don’t want to tie Obamacare defunding to a government funding bill because it will pass the House and force a shutdown confrontation that they will lose. But conservatives won’t be happy until they have that confrontation. And as David Drucker reports, this has “frustrated” more sober minded House Republicans who understand that this crusade is reckless, counterproductive and self destructive.

Right now, it’s unclear whether House Republicans can even pass their latest funding gimmick out of the House, because House Dems won’t support it and House conservatives won’t either because it won’t ultimately defund Obama’s tyrannical law. So House leaders are promising to fight the good fight in the next battle...

Boehner should stiff arm the tea party? He's not exactly running interference.

He’s scheming to fund Obamacare (Boehnercare!) right now.

Thanks for the advice, Compost.

Greg Sargent’s a putz.

Why not advocate that the Democrats will sooner or later have to dump the Communist Party and become more mainstream?

Boehner is trying to sell us out. If ever there was a need for another viable choice for conservatives, it is now. I am with Mark Levin on the Liberty Amendments. I just finished the read and agree with him.

The only way for the Republicans to survive is to adopt a more Populist/Tea Party approach.

Maybe the Tea Party should cut Boehner loose.

Boehner must cut loose the Tea Party? That’s ridiculous garbage from the WP. He was never attached to it. In fact, Boehner has done everything he could to marginalize the influence of the Tea Party.

Boehner must go! He’s a loser not a leader.

Greg Sargent writes The Plum Line blog, a reported opinion blog with a liberal slant -- what you might call “opinionated reporting” from the left. He joined the Post in early 2009, after stints at Talking Points Memo, New York Magazine and the New York Observer. He lives in Maryland with his wife, son and daughter.

I'm sure this Greg Sargent guy has the best interests of the Republican party at heart.

This is the Romney-GOP Agenda coming to you.

1. RomneyCARE/ObamaCARE FOR EVERYONE
(except the Congress, the pREs_ _ent,
their families, their Staff,
and a certain select, protected, religion)

2. Open Borders for illegals
with optional weapons from Holder.

3. Ignore the NSA/IRS atrocities
(except for the Congress, the pREs_ _ent,
their families, their Staff,
and a certain select, protected, religion)

4. Ignore the growing terrorist atrocities in America
and everywhere else with US taxpayer money.

And as David Drucker reports [staff writer for left-wing, Roll Call mag.], this has “frustrated” more sober minded House Republicans who understand that this crusade is reckless, counterproductive and self destructive.

I see. RINO cowards are "sober-minded. Tea Party members are "reckless, counterproductive, and self-destructive". See what they did there?

The left-wing post cites left-wing writer, Drucker to confirm that it's sober-minded people in Washington versus the crazy folk.

Good point, Jim.

I think the floating of the idea that he is retiring after this term means he just might be burning bridges with conservatives.

I hope I am wrong.

Of course, his impending retirement also means there is no reason for any sitting House member to be loyal to him, either.

Eric Cantor, the next “in line” ought to pay attention and listen to the Tea Party.

Basically the Fishwrapper du Jour is condemning ALL opposition to the Communist takeover Cout d'Etat that occurred in 2008. Trying to battle The Agenda and The Messiah to actually REPRESENT The Constitution, and We The Poeple, is not what they wanna see....nor do they want those who are resisting to be ARMED.

The RINO's outnumber the few Good Guys, and The Agenda WILL move forward, as will Amnesty and Obamacare.

Once Passed, Laws that are wealth-redistributing and vote-buying are NEVER undone, PERIOD.

FTA: So House leaders are promising to fight the good fight in the next battle — they will supposedly demand a delay in Obamacare in exchange for a debt limit hike — in hopes of winning support in the first round.

This is BS. The GOPe has already shown they are sensitive to the "Republicans have to pay the bill they're run up" argument they were defeated with last time. Obastard is already beating that drum, and if the GOPe is promising to "fight the good fight" over the debt limit, they are lying through their teeth.

Again. Sonsabitches think we're pretty stupid.
