That’s a shame. All they had to do is wait until he took a nap.

They didn’t need to shoot him. At his age you just wait till the metamusal kicks in and he has to run to the crapper.

The “need to shoot” mentality has really taken hold.

Were there any barking dogs in the area? Hopefully their owners had a chance to quickly bring them in the house and quiet them down.

When you send a SWAT team, somebody needs to die.

At least that's their philosophy.

The rapid, and rabid over militarizing of our police leads to too many of these encounters. 20 years ago, no one would have called out the National Guard to disarm a 107yo man. 107! Surprised he could aim well, I am having trouble at 68!!

The city where I live is transitioning to arming our firemen. I haven’t heard the details yet but I will find out. So, with the DHS, Soc. Sec., National Guard, policemen, FBI and now the firemen now armed, who are they going to point the guns at and why?

NObody said .. "Uhhh .. the guy's a hundred n'seven .. y'don't need your firepower"

Or were the people screaming .. "He's crazy ... he's crazy"

??

I didn't read the article but this is why I have no plans for going down in a blaze of glory ... NO one would know the why and wherefores ... just some crazy ol' guy that went nutz.

AND .. I'm willing to bet this is why NO one wants to do anything about a runaway government ...

We have documentary's about a lot of different things, but with the technology of today ... who knows what would be portrayed as 'history'

SWAT team pumped gas in the room from outside the bedroom window, hoping that Isadore would surrender peacefully. However, Isadore fired more shots at a SWAT entry team, who threw a distraction device into the room after breaching the door.

Whatever was so urgent that he had to surrender on site if there were no more hostages holed up in the room ? At least take 30 minutes to interview the two known victims to find out what is really going on.

Here in Tucson we have garages storing 'military type' vehicles ready to go against who...civilians...illegals...al queda? My guess would be the Bible reading gun clingers that seem to be so disturbing to the Marxists.

Don’t forget the department of education, VA, and Smithsonian Museum amongst others!

Arming fireman? That is a new one. Hopefully the fire department will fight that, their job is to fight fires not join be SWAT.

I often wonder how the day of the week, hour of the day, proximity to shift change, and overtime pay factor in to considerations of when LE decides to forcibly end a standoff. How long had this event gone on before they gave up on negotiations and decided to use gas? Knowing he had a firearm, why did they get so close to the bedroom after evacuating the other two occupants? Was the 107 y/o experiencing dementia, or just confused & angry? This one doesn't sound right. No matter, here comes the whitewash & cover-up.

Good Lord, get these guys some tranquizer guns for dogs and people. Someone needs to remind the police that they will be held accountable for their actions if not here then at some point.

The militarization of police only serves to reinforce the fact that citizens need to be prepared and well armed. Body armor and maybe a gas mask are on my list. I don’t know exactly what the actual cause of this event was, but we’re long past the day when the police were given the benefit of the doubt. And when it comes to Federalized police actions, I think everyone that’s paying attention is very suspect when it comes to SWAT raids.
If the domestic police has to send in a SWAT to defeat a 107 year old man with a handgun, the police are pretty pathetic.

Idiots, but they know that. For the rest of their lives, people will, at a minimum, laugh at them for killing a one hundred and seven year old man. Wise people will, upon recognizing them, huddle their children together and whisk them away. Their names should be published and remembered.

My husband is a firefighter and would love to be armed. They do find themselves in very dangerous situations, like for example when they are called as first responders to gang shootings. It is not a matter of WHO is armed, but a matter of who is held RESPONSIBLE for shooting deaths such as these. If these SWAT members can be terminated for excessive force and sued civilly it would go a long way toward stopping these things. Unfortunately they are a protected class.

The whole reason that firemen get the genuine respect and admiration that the police so desperately crave* is because they aren't armed: their whole point of existence is to save lives and property.

* The police used to get that respect/admiration, but they have squandered it by becoming violent, lying, unjust gangs instead of standing for Truth, Justice, and Liberty.
