Mind-numbingly despicable article. This person needs to be thrown into a large paint mixer full of nails.

The small population of Christians in Syria are caught in the middle of the conflict. They have no power and simply want to be left alone.

All over the world Muslims are fighting and killing and we call them the Religion of Peace.
If we don’t soon stop them there will be peace alright. The peace of the dead, and the enslaved.

So the moral position here is based on indifference to deaths if the victims are not muslims?

Julia Ioffe who wrote the article is a Russian Jew born in Moscow. No love here for America nor Christians.

Who here reads the New Republic? Oh, sure. We might post a few excerpts from one of their anti-American columns, but actually it’s headed for the trashcan of history!

No one dare mentions the plight of “Christians” anywhere, but Rand Paul. Christians are just not in vogue with anyone these days.
Thanks, Rand Paul.

All Julia and the New Republic have proven is what a bunch of hateful anti-Christian bigots they are. Congratulations!

Pauls emphasis on Syrian Christians is more than a simple reminder of a neglected aspect of an already complicated situation. Said the Marxist rag founded and historically published by Jewish progressives.

I care about the Christians in Syria, and any other non Muslim group wanting to survive. Too bad we can’t stash them safely away while the Muslims kill each other.

It’s a pity that Rand Paul can’t come out with a statement like, “America needs to care about Syrian Christians, because they are the only decent people in Syria. Both Muslims and atheists are so obnoxious that Americans can’t be expected to care if they slaughter each other.”

Why does he only seem to care about the countrys Christians? journalist Julia Ioffe rails, Pauls emphasis on Syrian Christians is more than a simple reminder of a neglected aspect of an already complicated situation. Ioffe continues, Rands concern over Christians in Syria sounds distinctly like the garbage about America being a Christian nation, like the unnerving evangelical support of Israel, like the not-too-subtle hum on the right that some lives, Christian lives, are simply more important than other, Muslim ones. So Rand Paul has more sympathy for Christians than for Muslims. The horror!
I guess Obama's priorities are more to Ioffe's liking, as Obama only seems to have humanitarian concerns when the victims of an alleged injustice are Muslims, blacks, or homosexuals.

One more reason I’ve had it with Republicans even after I had to leave the bunch of high-spoken hippie idiots that the Libertarian Party had become.
