Hillsborough deputies said Friday morning they'd tracked an assault and home invasion suspect to a stretch of woods north of 42nd Street and south of Amberly Drive in Tampa.
A canine and a witness helped track the suspect into the woods. Officers said deep water in the wooded area is complicating the search, but added dogs can track through that obstacle.
"The thing about the water is you've gotta come out somewhere," Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department Spokesman Major J.R. Burton said.

Officers said the series of random but related crimes began around 11 p.m. Thursday night when the suspect forced his way into an apartment on Shiloh Woods Court at Cambridge Woods Apartments, near 42nd Street north of East Fletcher Avenue. He bound the four men and sexually assaulted the four women inside, and instructed the victims not to call police for 30 minutes. They followed those instructions out of fear, deputies said.
The suspect then left the apartment and entered a second home in the nearby Eagle Point Apartments. Authorities said they don't have further information about this incident.
After fleeing Eagle Point on foot, the suspect entered a party inside a home at The Oaks apartment complex. He forced 25 people into a bedroom at gunpoint and fired at least one round into the carpet before leaving the scene, the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Department said.

I get the feeling this was more than a year ago? ;)
I live in Tampa. This was big news on our local news. Description is a black male. Raped 4 women. This was in the USF area. Large college population.

Did the local TV/radio news reports give perp description?
It is a dangerous disservice to the public if law enforcement and/or media refuse to publicze a suspect description for political correctness reasons.
Black male who ALSO committed a home invasion of a college party and forced 25 people into a bedroom before firing a shot into the carpet.
Oh, AND he chased down a guy on the street trying to rob him and fired several shots at him within close proximity to where the rapes occurred.
This guy is high on something, mark my words. He’s likely cowering in the Hillsborough River watershed area coming down off a PCP or synthetic marijuana high.
Attached is the latest on the suspect. This guy is a one man rampage!!!
I noticed that earlier. BN9’s been following it all morning.
Eight people, and they didn't bum-rush him??
Four "men", and they didn't stomp his guts out!?
Has "Justice Fo' Trayvon" paralyzed people that badly?
He must have had a gun and people have been trained by the legal system and law enforcement to rely on the professionals. Stupid.
Look above, he also terrorized a party of 25!
Fletcher Ave. That’s near the campus complex. So he crashed a college party?
They’re college kids. I guarantee you every one of them was either drunk or getting there. They’re all liberalized kids, so none of them think anything bad will happen to them and don’t carry weapons.
Had I been there, I don’t know that I’d had played hero, but if I was armed, he’d be a corpse at this hour.

“After fleeing Eagle Point on foot, the suspect entered a party inside a home at The Oaks apartment complex. He forced 25 people into a bedroom at gunpoint...”
Police cautioned area residents to be on the lookout for a man carrying a big bottle of blue pills.
With women to defend behind me, there'd be just another notch on my ammo belt to mark his passing.
Agreed. I have no tolerance for these sorts of shenanigans. One thug with a gun can’t kill 25 people no matter how hard he tries. People turn into sheep when confronted by someone with a gun: they freeze in place. I’m not saying I wouldn’t, I’m just saying it’s a fight-or-flight response that can’t be avoided.
BREAKING: Suspect involved in shootout near I4 & US 301. Hit several times.
True. It can either paralyze, or galvanize. I won’t ever let it paralyze me again.
CRAPPAGE!
