With pay, to be re-instated next semester.
The nation's educators can't start punishing professors for this kind of rhetoric - there won't be enough of them around to fit in the mens room in a month.

True expressions of liberalism can only thrive when not exposed.
I used to have a yahoo handle of “expose the left”.
The lefties HATED that handle.
They know that liberalism exposed is liberalism defeated.

I’ll bet he was suspended with pay, i.e. a paid vacation of a semester or two.

Wow, I’m actually surprised that they did this, even though it would have been better if they had fired him outright.

I’m stunned. Now that he’s been outed, the only students who will sign up for his section next semester will be the ones who agree with him

Where’s the video? I would like to see the tirade before I give them TOO much credit.
If he dropped F bombs, insulted gays, blacks, women, etc. during the tirade, they may have determined he went to far in characterizing republicans as his was offensive to their own liberal subjects. In other words, he may have just taken the hatred beyond what level of hatred the administration will tolerate when it comes to political opposition to their position.

I can’t believe people are falling for this.
The liberal administration is simply biding their time, waiting for the hullabaloo to blow over.
This nut firmed up his lib chops with his bosses, and they love him MORE, now.

A strange thing happened to me at GA Southern in the middle '80s. I was in a history class, and was absent-mindedly drumming on my desk. The professor asked me to stop, and I did.
Apparently I looked at him funny, because he then asked if I would like to leave. I gathered my stuff and I left.
I don't remember if I dropped the class or took the F, I was likely to do either at the time.
I ended up taking the same class from the same professor the next year, and got an A. Dean's List.

Good news! Actually shocking! The typical response from schools has been to at least initially support their instructors under the guise of “free speech” for them and to suspend or expel the victimized student as the problem, that is until public outrage and alumni cause a big enough ruckus. That Michigan State didn't go through the “normal” process says a lot.

exactly.
If his diatribe had been aimed at any other groups than whites, Republicans or Christians his career would be very. He will get a pass.

Was the SOB suspended with or without pay? If without pay it’s going to bite. If not, it’s nothing more than a paid vacation.

I’m guessing that the ONLY reason this guy got suspended is because someone whose contribution checks have a lot of zeros called the university president and complained. Otherwise, MSU would have rode out the storm claiming that this is an issue of academic freedom.
