They were talking about putting these in Lake Ontario. Wonder what a water spout would do to one of these things. We have several here every year.

Why are there no pictures of the aftermath of the failure?

Turbines on playgrounds could put children at risk? What genius put them there in the first place? Lets put large, powerful, unshielded rotating machinery near unsuspecting and inattentive kids. For added fun, lets make it autonomous, no operator on site to shut it down if there is a problem. Tbese are mechanical devices. They will break, they will wear out. Things go wrong, they are not immune to Murphy. When, not if, they break it can be pretty spectacular. Just search YouTube for turbine failures.

Life can be frustrating these days, but then the schmucks who make it so frustrating provide some much needed laughs.

I’m waiting for the global warming nuts to get trapped in icebergs. I would like to drive by in my suv, and chuckle at their frozen expressions.

he council’s safety trigger for turbines to be shut down currently stands at 80mph winds

Wow! We've got one right outside of Cleveland Stadium and I noticed it gets locked down on overly windy days (I understand the irony). I'm guessing they lock it down at about 30-40mph.

Where,oh where, is “The 80’s, a Look Back” when I need it? It was a 1979 satirical look at the decade ahead, and it included a story (a la Three Mile Island) about a runaway wind turbine that destroyed a town.

This makes perfect sense, as it is being pushed by leftist environmentalists. Indeed, Solar panels are destroyed by the sun: my landscape lighting don’t last more than one season, as the sun’s UV does them in.

I really wonder if it was the wind that did it?? They have several of these near Laramie Wyo and 40mph is barely considered wind there...

After it was destroyed by that high wind the blades became liberated from the structure and decapitated fifty humans.

I always make sure that my kids, all of whom weigh less than 60 pounds, are outside playing in 40-80 MPH winds. They just
love to fly.
