Chris Christie is rolling to re-election — and building big momentum for a 2016 White House run
The Washington Times ^ | 28 August 2013 | Seth McLaughlin

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie has undergone lap-band surgery, vetoed gun control bills and banned anti-gay conversion therapies for minors — all while touting his ability to push conservative principles in a blue state.

With three months to go before he faces voters in his quest for another term as governor, the rotund Republican looks poised to run away with a double-digit victory that could build momentum for a 2016 presidential bid.

“It is vital for Gov. Christie to run up a big margin in order to make his story work,” said Charlie Gerow, an American Conservative Union member and CEO of Pennsylvania-based Quantum Communications. “Without a big margin, the story is far less powerful. But if he is successful, the story for Chris Christie is, ‘I am a Republican that not only can win in a very blue state, but I am able to win convincingly and handily in a very blue state.’”

New Jersey last went for a Republican presidential candidate in 1988. Since then, no Republican has won 50 percent of the vote in a statewide election, not even Mr. Christie, who was elected governor in 2009 with 49 percent of the vote.

“If he has big numbers, Republican leaders from around the country will have to look and say, ‘What he does works electorally,’” Mr. Gerow said.

Others say Mr. Christie doesn’t even have to win big; simply winning is good enough.

IMO, the RINO isn’t fit to lick Ronnie’s shoes.

I’ll vote for him as my Gov, but never as POTUS. No chance.

He will never get my vote. Maybe, he should run as a Democrat.

Dems and GOP ought to just have one convention in '16. Would save a lot of money. They Krispy Kreme and Hillary can run on a unity ticket.

In a Christie-Clinton 2 way race (and Christie is more likely to run as her VP), I would vote for Christie.

However, if Christie is on the way to the GOP nomination by March 2016, I expect that there will be a conservative nominee offered as an alternative, who would stand a very good chance of winning with 40-42% of the vote.

Not voting for Christie or any other GOPe. (Can’t call them RINOs anymore, they are the Republican Party now). Besides, they don’t need any conservative votes (they made that clear by coming out into the open in making conservatives the enemy), they’re going to have all those new Hispanic votes when they pass amnesty (hahahahahaha). Let them eat where they got their appetite. They’re going to starve to death waiting on Hispanic votes.

What difference does it make whether the R team or the D team supports leftist policies?

The last overweight man elected President was Herbert Hoover, and that was over 80 years ago. Unfortunately, I can see Christie winning the RINO vote against a field of candidates splitting the conservative electorate, as was the case in 2008 and 2012. Last year, Romney carried none of his “home” states: Michigan, where he grew up, Massachusetts, where he served as governor, or New Hampshire, his current residence. Whether the Democrats run Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden, or someone from their “farm team”, Christie will not carry blue New Jersey, deep blue New York, or light blue Pennsylvania. He might even lose those states picked up by Romney on 2012 like Indiana and North Carolina.

Listen, folks.....we got a long shot in New Jersey with Conservative Republican, Steve Lonegan running in the October special election. Cory “Obamabot Clone” Booker who most likely will win....but......there is a slim chance that Lonegan can pull off an upset. He will fight like a wounded dog, but Christie can help Lonegan, along with the RNC and the Conservative Gang, Rubio, Paul, Lee & Cruz, etc.!!!

If Christie aids in a Lonegan upset...he gets my support....because if Booker loses NJ, Obama is really finished for good!!! Just remember, Christie appointed Chiesa and Senator Chiesa is aligned and supports the Lee/Cruz movement to defund Obamacare. Let’ keep our cool and win seats....not rant at each other!!! And.....NJ....darn it....get out and vote to support Steve Lonegan...he is a really good man for NJ and our country. Cory Booker, low life that he is, is just another Obamabot, Black racist!!!

I would vote for him if it comes to him and Hillary. We need to try to make sure that it doesn’t get that far... You are correct. Unless people are ready to take the country back by other means, they shouldn’t commit political suicide. Notice the lack of people showing up these days to tell us that Romney would have been just as bad as Obama?

If you are from Florida, Iowa and New Hampshire then start working to defeat Christie in the 2016 primaries because that’s where it counts. Just those three loser states determine who gets nominated. So step it up people. I have no faith about all three being conservative states. It doesn’t matter what anybody else says. Only what those three lose states say on caucus and primary day. We have to take back at least Iowa and Florida and at least in the GOP Primary.

I won't vote for the sob either. In fact, I've decided that my wife and I won't vote at all if we don't get someone we want.

Just sooooooo sick and tired of the lesser evil theory. What they mean is that the lesser evil is just a miniscule amount lesser evil than evil. It's still farkin evil!

I mean, McCain? Romney? Tell me how in any way they're conservatives???? Not for me. Never again.

The only ones I see in the current possibilities for me are Cruz and Sarah.

Tired of the lefties in the press picking my presidential choices.

I ain't playin their game again!
