Defense Department Education Materials Warn of ‘Extremists’

U.S. Department of Defense education materials obtained by Judicial Watch, a conservative watchdog group, warn of “extremists” that will “talk of individual liberties, states’ rights, and how to make the world a better place.” Judicial Watch and other conservative media outlets claim the disclosure indicates the department is teaching that conservative views are “extremist” in nature.

The guide is reportedly authored by the Defense Equal Opportunity Management Institute, a Defense Department-funded diversity training center. Further, the documents cite the left-leaning Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) when identifying “hate groups.”

"...(SPLC) when identifying “hate groups.”

Judicial Watch: Defense Department Teaching Documents Suggest Conservative Views “Extremist”

“Extreme Ideologies:

...In U.S. history, there are many examples of extremist ideologies and movements. The colonists who sought to free themselves from British rule and the Confederate states who sought to secede from the Northern states are just two examples.”

......

“2. Ideologies

“a. Nationalism – The policy of asserting that the interests of one’s own nation are separate from the interests of other nations or the common interest of all nations. Many nationalist groups take it a step further and believe that their national culture and interests are superior to any other national group.”

“The document defines extremists as ‘a person who advocates the use of force or violence; advocates supremacist causes based on race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or national origin; or otherwise engages to illegally deprive individuals or groups of their civil rights.’”

A person who advocates the use of . . . violence . . . based on . . . religion . . ." Trying to think who could possibly come to mind. Billy Graham?

And so anything that smells remotely of God makes them nervous.

And so what? Did that budge God off His throne by a single silly millimeter?

Let’s be bold and let them say what they will. If God has your back to the end, what else could you want?

Conservatives need to take back the military.

Some here have said they would not encourage their children to go into the military and some of those who have served have said they would not want to serve today, especially under 0bama.

I say the opposite. Yes, it’s a horrible environment for conservatives. That’s because it has been overrun by non-conservatives. Most of the higher ranking officers (not sure about NCOs) have gotten promoted by being politically correct.

But ask yourself this: In whose hands do you want our military weapons? I would sleep a lot better at night knowing our troops were conservatives who understood the concepts of liberty and freedom. I want the fingers on the triggers of the world’s most powerful weapons to be conservative ones.

As much as I hate crap like diversity training, it beats getting shot at. If you join the military, it means you are putting your life on the line to defend our country. I’d hate to think that our troops are more afraid of diversity training than they are of enemy bullets.

Officers swear an oath to defend against all enemies, foreign and *domestic*. Worth remembering.

To all our troops past and present, thank you for your service. Thanks to the families as well. God bless.

“Conservatives need to take back the military.”

The military is still significantly more conservative than the general population - from top to bottom. Unfortunately it is used for social engineering by many on the left since they despise the military and think it is unnecessary (some much more than others).

There are many mandatory training requirements. It does not change people’s basic beliefs and many do not pay attention after a couple of sessions. Just showing up to fulfill the requirement.

FYI, all military personnel take the oath, as do DoD civilians. Not sure about other federal employees but it is easily researched.

Yes, SPLC is a collection of assholes, but that’s not the DoD’s problem.

Too bad that first sentence didn't include odumbo, he could use an “oath swearing” refresher course. Has he followed ANY of the oath he took not once but twice? We all know the answer to that.

So our Department of Defense exists to 'defend' one political group's power? History's not going to be kind to these delusional idiots..

I know what they're really afraid of - they fear Tea Party types are going to look at the cushy jobs they get when they retire... Retire to those companies they 'helped' along the way....

When I tried to get drafted in ‘64, ‘65 and ‘66 I was repeatedly asked by those at enlistment centers If I would be loyal to LBJ. My stock reply was that I swore to uphold the Constitution and that is what I would do. They did not like that answer. They thought it was a smart-ass answer.

I finally did succeed in getting drafted in ‘66. But even then I was forced to be awol for 3 days because after I was inducted and officially in the military, the question of my loyalty to LBJ was still and obstacle.
