(This story was reported by a journalist whose name has been withheld for security reasons)
"They keep calling me throughout the day, and they are frantic. They ask: Mum, what about the watermelon? Does it absorb the chemicals? What about the milk?' I try to calm them down, but I'm very worried myself... it was the first time she was seriously worried about food contamination since the U.S.-led invasion of neighboring Iraq made Syrians fear contamination of imported food... And you're asking me what I think about America coming? Things can't get much worse."

And you're asking me what I think about America coming? Things can't get much worse." I'm willing to send them a canned ham and in the meantime, they can get help from their Israeli friends.

Related: I don’t understand the claim that the evidence may be corrupted. I would think toxicology tests on the bodies would give the answer.
I also think we shouldn’t get involved at this juncture. We are winning this one every day right now.

Israel probably would help if Syrians would accept it.

Water and food contaminated after gassing in Syria. Gassing in the US would cause the same. If you live through the gas, can’t drink local water anymore or eat food from the land.

Depends on the toxin. Many of the nerve agents have a short half life. Break down from sunlight, heat etc.
