Shut ‘er down now. or let debt shut ‘er down later.
We cannot keep going like this.
Better to let Obama shut down the government than have ObamaCare shutdown the nation. And it surely will if allowed to fester.
Our rep said there was a big conference call yesterday and the leadership wants to draw the line in the sand at the debt ceiling vote. Of course they will probably cave on that line also.
Well, that’s exactly what they said last year, and the year before, as pointed out in that Red State article I linked too above. It’s all just smoke and mirrors and they’re lying through their teeth.
Thats an excellent article.
It will indeed
a solid majority of 153 has refrained from trying to limit Boehner's options. That presumably would allow the speaker to push a bipartisan bill that funds the health law and is supported by a "majority of the majority" of his fellow Republicans, which Boehner says is essential. However, he would need more than 60 Democratic votes to pass such a bill. That would give Democrats a major voice in its details.
Is there a list of these 80 House members who signed the letter? I can’t find it...
~ An Amendment to Establish Term Limits for Members of Congress
~ An Amendment to Restore the Senate (repeal of the 17th Amendment)
~ An Amendment to Establish Term Limits for Supreme Court Justices and Super-Majority Legislative Override
~ Two Amendments to Limit Federal Spending and Taxation
~ ~ An Amendment to Grant States Authority to Check Congress
Here’s a link to a local story about this that contains a copy of the letter with signatures. Unfortunately, none of those signatures is printed, so you’ll have to puzzle out the handwriting. Fortunately, my congressman, John Duncan, Jr. is one of the signers.
Those 2 pictures have disgusted me for a long long time.
Thank you, libstripper. My GOP congressman is NOT among the signers. Lynn Westmoreland does not dare raise his voice to Speaker Boehner.
Will FReepers keep posting "Glitch" threads every time that we have an occurrence of the FR display "Glitch"?
If so, I'm suggesting that they include the following Keyword: FFRR
FFRR - For FR display glitch threads [Articles] FR Keyword: ffrr
AND, a better idea might be to just "Bump!" one of the recent "Glitch" threads when we see the display problem. If people see these threads on the forum and are interested in what is going on, then they can just click on the "last" link, and read the latest info.
There are two threads on the "FFRR" list that have good generic titles:
FR glitch returns - (Aug 7); - And the "glitch" is back - (Aug 24).
Note: The "FFRR" keyword is intended for "display glitch" threads. Now you will see that I included three "current affairs" articles, and a couple of FR related threads near the bottom of the list. However, any new entries should be related to the FR display glitch.
- Oh well, No sweat... FR Jim "offers strategies" to dump Kommiecare in Congress!
80 House members: Shutdown better than ObamaCare (Aug 23, 2013)
- AND, - FWIW:
1. For FR display "Glitch" threads, use FR Keyword: FFRR = ffrr
2. Better yet, if the glitch returns, just "Bump!" one of the recent "Glitch" threads:
FR glitch returns - (Aug 7) - (Aug 30 - #90 full post)
