Here’s a look at the economy from a mom’s perspective: When my son was born in September 2008, a box of generic Walmart dipes was $12.89 while a box of Pampers was $19.99. My daughter was born in August 2011 and a box of generic Walmart dipes was $14.99 while the Pampers were $23.99. Our second daughter will arrive any day now and generic Walmart dipes are $19.99. I don’t know what Pampers are, although looking at the price might send me into labor. We’re in the middle of an addition and remodel and we found some stuff packed away in dipe boxes from 2008. There were more dipes per box than in today’s box. Price up, quantity down in five short years. Wipes are about the same price, but the quantity has been cut in half.

use cloth. I raised four on plain cloth diapers, with pins and ripstop waterproof pants.

I’ve noticed the same trend. When I started the “surviving socialism” ping list some years back, it was somewhat tongue in cheek. It isn’t tongue in cheek anymore.

As a retailer that's what we've been seeing. Smaller quantities per same sized container, clearly labeled but with an obvious trend towards higher prices for everything. Prices are going up and have been for some time now. Marketers are doing their best to fool you.

We noticed great prices on quart and 10 oz tubes of caulk that were actually 20% less product. For that matter, check out what has been going on with a bag of charcoal.

It's buyer beware. Mom & Pops like us are just as outraged, but that doesn't help or make it any better.

Yep...grocery prices have definitely increased since 2008....but, no worries, there's no inflation!!

If ANY of these dreadful numbers in the economy were happening under a Repub Prez...you'd be hearing about it non-stop, 24/7. Not with the Marxist media covering for the regime.

It's shocking how fast the packages are shrinking AND the quality of some items are deteriorating. I've been buying the same brand socks for years, a name brand. It seems like each time I stock up again, they are thinner than the previous time. I know I'm not imagining it because I found an old package stored away in an un-used dresser. The quality of that package, from probably 10 years ago, was SO much better than the single-use socks I get now.
