Since ex-president Morsy's ouster on July 3, attacks on Egyptian Christians by members of the Muslim Brotherhood have taken place in most governorates across Egypt. These attacks have escalated since security forces ended the pro-Morsy protests in central Cairo on August 14th. During their 6-weeks of protests, Muslim Brotherhood leaders explicitly threatened to harm the Copts should they be forced to end their protests, which they vowed to prolong until Morsy is restored to power.
"Over the past weeks we have witnessed an increasing trend of anti-Christian rhetoric calling for 'the attack upon and eradication of Christians and churches' in Egypt," said Coptic Bishop Anba in the United Kingdom. "The result of such incitement, at least in part, has been the unprecedented attack on fifty two churches and numerous Christian homes and businesses across eight governorates in Egypt, within the space of twenty four hours."
Yesterday Dr. Naguib Gabriel, President of Egyptian Union of Human Rights Organization, said "82 churches, many of which were from the 5th century, were attacked by pro-Morsy supporters in just two days."
Coptic Pope Tawadros II issued a statement yesterday expressing his views on the violence which engulfed Egypt, accusing the Muslim Brotherhood of fomenting sectarian clashes.
The Pope said the Church is on "the side of Egyptian law, the armed forces and all the Egyptian civil institutions when it comes to confronting violent armed organizations and terrorizing forces, either within the country or from abroad." The Pope pointed out that one should look beyond the squares where the Muslim Brotherhood have been holding their protests, in order to gain a general overview of what has been happening for weeks in Egypt. "The attacks on government buildings and peaceful churches terrorize everyone, whether they be Copts or Muslims. These actions go against any religion, any moral code and any sense of humanity."
The Coptic Church also criticized the way in which the crisis is reported outside of Egypt. It expressly speaks of "false broadcast by Western media," and urges for an "objective" revision to be made of the descriptions given to the actions of those "blood-thirsty radical organizations." The Coptic Orthodox Church says that "instead of legitimizing them with global support and political coverage while they are trying to wreak havoc and destruction upon our beloved land, report all events truthfully and accurately."
Pope Tawadros reaffirmed his support for "national unity" and rejected any form of "international interference in our internal affairs."
The Pope is at the top of the Islamists' assassination list.
The views of the Coptic church are also held by Copts in general, who are angry with the US and EU powers, "who almost daily issue statements threatening to take further actions against our interim government and army, portraying the Muslim Brotherhood as victims while not even mentioning the destruction of over 80 churches, as well monasteries, orphanages, businesses and Coptic schools by the Muslim Brotherhood," says Coptic activist Wagih Yacoub who believes that this western attitude emboldens them to carry out further violence. "To add insult to injury the Muslim Brotherhood this week hoisted the black Al-Qaida flag on top of St. George's church in Sohag. Three churches were turned into mosques in Minya and Friday prayers were held inside them."
Why that bastard in the Oval Office is supproting Morsi and the other monsters in the Muslim brotherhood, along with the wesern European Powers is beyond me.
If Obama were merely a Muslim, you would think he would oppose Morsi.
His actions and those of the secularist social powers in Europe, especially the British govrnment, demonstrates that their actions are rooted in a deep seated self-hatred of their own religious and social heritage.
America is being governered by people who hate it.
He said what had to be said, but it won’t do any good. Savage-loving politicians don’t give an excrement over savages murdering Christians.
(Christians are White. Whites are oppressors. Savages are dark-skinned. Dark-skinned are oppressed. That is the leftist thinking.)
Pope Francis congratulates Moslems upon the conclusion of Ramadan
Pope Francis has congratulated Moslems around the world upon their conclusion of the holy month of Ramadan, dedicated to fasting, prayer and alms-giving.

The “leaders” of the West are completely paralyzed. Their discernment destroyed by their moral relativism and their will gelded by their delicate PC zeitgeist which abhors any possibility of giving “offense”, real or imagined, to any Islamist. They are jelly, backed into a corner of their own making and are completely helpless. They have no idea what to do.
Egypt’s ambassador to the UK, Ashraf El Kholy, says that the Islamists, the Muslim Brotherhood, are Nazis and must be removed as Nazis where. For this UK pols want him expelled from the UK.
In the US Obama continually insists upon aiding the Muslim Brotherhood.
This behavior is a symptom of their moral relativism. They can not recognize evil, nevermind stand up to it.
I pray for the Copts and other Christians who are routinely persecuted by moozlum maniacs worldwide. nobama is a subhuman hate crime. nobama hates Freedom in any guise.
Keep in mind that 90% of the opposition to the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt is Muslim, and such Muslims have stepped forward to protect the Christian churches. The present head of the Army, El-Sisi, says he'll have them rebuilt, and make the Muslim Brotherhood pay for it.
If the Pope wishes to greet people of good will at the end of Ramadam, it doesn't seem any more surprising than that I should offer friends a Happy Chanukah.

Not all Egyptian Muslims want to burn churches—its the nut case Brotherhood of Fanatics. The west better take off their anti-Christian glasses and see things as they are and not as the fantasy world of Liberalism wants them to be.
What are you talking about?
I don` see no muslim police nor muslim army troops guarding any churches in Egypt or there would be 52 still standing.
If 90% of the opposition is muslim how did these terrorists win the elections?
Egypt will go the way of Indonesia with a muslim govt that talks big but churches get burned up, Christian girls get raped in the streets, and cathedrals get bombed anyway coz
MUSLIM GOVTS DO NOT PROTECT CHRISTIAN INSTITUTIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD
Show me ONE muslim country that now has armed govt guards around churches.
Never bring an unarmed human chain to a RPG/firebomb attack.
You may have noticed that Egypt is a country in internal turmoil just now? The army can't be everywhere, nor are they in firm control. After the army struggled to secure sites in northern Egypt --- Alexandria, Port Said, Cairo --- clearing out Muslim Brotherhood strongholds and protest camps, MB spporters were swarming down and attacking or torching the churches, schools, convents and Christian orphanages, many of them in the southern deserts.
"If 90% of the opposition is muslim how did these terrorists win the elections?"
Morsi picked up 13.2 million votes out of just over 26 million, giving him about 51 per cent of the vote. His competitor, Ahmed Shafik, a cabinet member under Hosni Mubarak, received 12.3 million. More than 800,000 ballots were invalidated, raising charges of fraud. About 90% of Shafik's (anti-Muslim Brotherhood) votes were Muslim, and maybe 95% of Morsi's (pro-MB) votes were Muslim. It is suspected that many of the invalidated ballots were Christians; plus many Christians did not vote.
I don't know which way the seculars split, nor how many of them there are.

Nobody knows what's going to happen. It could get worse, it could get better. Egypt desperately needs to get the tourists back, which means I think that Al-Sisi will clamp down hard on the more incendiary elements, and at least create the appearance of restoring Christian churches. Remember that ancient church and monastic sites and historic-archaeological digs are also tourist magnets.
"MUSLIM GOVTS DO NOT PROTECT CHRISTIAN INSTITUTIONS ANYWHERE IN THE WORLD"
Not so. Mubarak protected Christians in Egypt; so did Saddam Hussein in Iraq, ironically. I would say Borneo (Link) is a good example of Christians' rights being respected, but that's a little complicated because Borneo is an island, not a country, and three different countries have jurisdiction over it: Indonesia, Malaysia, and Brunei.
"Show me ONE muslim country that now has armed govt guards around churches."
Can't say how swift or effective or total the protective cover will be, but --- as of now --- Al-Sisi says the army will protect the churches in Egypt (Link).
Is this actually going to happen? I don't know. I don't have a personal surveillance network to do intel for me. Coptic Pope Tawadros has thanked and sided apparently with the army (As-Sisi), but it playing this very cautiously: "What did Pope Tawadros say? (Link)
