Mark Levin says things designed to get people thinking but sometimes the way he says it is designed to grab attention.
Changing the dates of the election and tax day would be far easier and require less political muscle than a Constitutional Amendment. But saying “Constitutional Amendment” will grab attention to the idea that if people remembered tax day when they vote maybe they would vote different.
Maybe a few, but how many are receiving a “refund” that someone else paid for these days? Those people are going to vote to keep that gravy train flowing.
Restoration of our republic is his goal, and state derived amendments are the only means to do that.
No doubt.
But I think there are enough of us “pulling the wagon” that if sufficiently motivated could change the hearts and minds of the political class.
Do you realize how few there are of us? I mean, well-informed, motivated citizens?
The vast majority of taxpayers are focused on what high school players will sign with LSU or Ohio State. Or who the couples on Dancing With the Stars are. Or making it to work on time tomorrow and keeping a job.
If we could ever get that group motivated, then things would change.
Bingo! Bad idea IMO. The takers, the people who get obamaphones and such, will vote to keep the gravey train running. You can be sure there will always be new perks in the pipeline.
