Obama’s not to be trusted on foreign policy
Telegraph UK ^ | August 10, 2013 | Janet Daley

Having declared an end to the War on Terror, the US president no longer has any clear idea of his country's global role

The West can no longer rely on American leadership in the world. For the remaining duration of the Obama administration, Washington’s judgment and effectiveness in foreign policy cannot be trusted. It is quite an achievement for the one remaining superpower to appear as ineffectual and wrong-footed as the United States has managed to do in the past week. But there it is. The president’s global strategy in his second term was based on two resounding premises. First, alQaeda was “on the run” having been smashed by the killing of Osama bin Laden and the successful US drone operations in Pakistan: in May, Mr Obama gave a triumphal speech in which he declared the War on Terror officially over.

… This clarification was followed shortly by the evacuation of diplomatic staff from Lahore in Pakistan due to – a specific terrorist threat. In his most recent comment, Mr Obama rephrased his dismissal of the Islamist forces: al-Qaeda may not be “on the run” but it is “on its heels”. (Meaning: still facing forward and able to fight?) More confusingly still, Mr Obama is apparently determined to return some Guantánamo prisoners to Yemen, where they will presumably add to the dangerous mix of jihadi terrorists.

The questions remain: is the US “at war” with global jihad or isn’t it? It is now engaged in drone attacks on Yemen, whose government is repeatedly declaring victory over the local al-Qaeda branch. What precisely is America’s role in this, if not as part of an international “War on Terror”?

… The second plank of the Obama global plan was that America’s contentious relationship with Russia would be “re-set”

You could have left off the last three words in the title.

Outside of using government unions to funnel money to his party and growing party and domination of government over people, what can he be depended on for? IMO nothing related to improving this country.

Might be a great guy for all I know, but as a President he is a FAIL!

US-Egypt alliance on verge of collapse

America’s intricate alliance with Egypt, woven over four decades, is standing on the verge of collapse over the failure of the Obama administration to comprehend the revolution that ousted the Muslim Brotherhood from power in Cairo.

In a cascade of mutual recriminations over the past three days, President Mansour and his prime minister, Hazem Biblawi, described two senior American senators, sent as emissaries of President Barak Obama, as “delusional” and “liars.”

The two senators arrived with demands to release all Muslim Brotherhood leaders being held under arrest and to integrate the party into the new revolutionary government. Otherwise, they warned, the Obama administration will cutoff all financial and military aid to Egypt.

So that’s what kind of mischief Juan and Lindsey were up to, eh? Why don’t they just declare themselves dhimmicrats and get it over with?

If Zer0 treated terrorists as badly as he treats US Citizens who believe in individual liberty and freedom, the terrorists would really be on the run.

While Obozo is totally inept in foreign policy, by comparison to his economic abilities in terms of policy, he looks like a genius in foreign policy. If my Principles students tried to use his policies to fix the economic mess we’re currently in, they’d all fail. He is a very bad joke in all areas and, I think, even worse than Carter.

IMO he doesn’t direct money anywhere that doesn’t expand his power, personal wealth or influence.

I don’t see how anyone can say obumbler’s foreign policy is wrong,

He is doing exactly what a Marxist/Jehadist should do.

As for killing a few jehadists with drones, that does not make him a hero.

The mideast is embroiled in gang warfare. So you can zap a gang member because he is not a member of the right gang, you gang.

So obumbler is putting a hit on gangs that are not his gang.

How many Muslim Brotherhood guys has he sent drones after?

We are not at war with terrorists if they are Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is Valerie and Obama’s fraternity.

I think it’s significant that this appeared in the UK Telegraph.

All our allies can see that they cannot count on the US.

“The West can no longer rely on American leadership in the world. For the remaining duration of the Obama administration, Washington’s judgment and effectiveness in foreign policy cannot be trusted. It is quite an achievement for the one remaining superpower to appear as ineffectual and wrong-footed as the United States has managed to do in the past week. “

Obama’s not to be trusted on foreign policy

That title implies he could be trusted with other things.
