Al Qaeda Has 'Developed Liquid Explosives Which Blow Up When Dry' Prompting US Evacuation
UK Daily Mail ^ | 5:56 EST, 6 August 2013

Al Qaeda terrorists may have developed undetectable liquid bombs prompting America to evacuate its citizens from Yemen, it emerged today.

The explosive would be applied wet to clothing and then detonated when dry, according to senior US officials.

Security experts fear it would be completely undetectable using the current range of security devices operated at airports across the world.

The terrifying technology is thought to be the work of Al-Qaeda's master bomb-maker Ibrahim al-Asiri who is linked to the Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula (AQAP) group based in the Yemen.

Al-Asiri is believed to be the man behind a range of explosive devices including the underwear bomb and surgically implanted body bombs which contain no metal parts making them virtually undetectable.

An early version of the underwear bomb was used in the the 2009 Christmas Day bomb plot, when a Nigerian man attempted unsuccessfully to detonate the device aboard a flight from Amsterdam to Detroit.

Mastermind: The new explosive is believed to be the work Ibrahim Hassan al-Asiri known as Al-Qaeda's bomb-make in chief

An updated version, which incorporated fail-safe triggers and used a new kind of explosive that was even harder to detect was supplied for a terrorist attack in May last year to mark the anniversary of Osama Bin Laden’s death.

News of the terrifying development came as America warned all 'non-essential' citizens to evacuate and the UK Foreign Office withdrew embassy staff from the country, advising against all travel.

And yet people still claim that Muslims haven’t contributed anything important to the development of science and technology. </sarc>

So now we have to fly in wet clothing?

The explosive would be applied wet to clothing and then detonated when dry, according to senior US officials.

That would have to be one seriously powerful explosive to do real damage for the small amount that you would need to make it undetectable.

I would bet that the technology was developed in the west, and this guy just dug it up and seems ready to put it to use.

We made it in Chemistry class when I was in High School

Nitrogen Triiodide

Iodine and concentrated ammonia

Filter out the residue

When dry-very sensitive-air currents set it off

Had a tray of it go off in my face when I picked it up when I was in HS. Made a bang and scared the crap out of folks (Including me) but no damage done

Heeeeeeey, thaaaaaaaaat’s greeeaaaaaaat.

Luckily for us, Obama and Joe Biteme have so thoroughly defeated Al Qaeda and befriended the moooslum street so effectively that we never have to worry about this nonsense.

We are so lucky to have those guys, I mean gosh, just gosh.

So if I see a sopping wet person in a burqua leaving footprints in the terminal I should make the decision to rent a car and drive?

Amazing how these AQ types can run and develop new bomb technology at the same time.

According to one high placed US official, concern focuses on the possibility of terrorists carrying explosive devices implanted inside their bodies. Counterterrorism sources add that plastic explosives in the body of a would-be suicide bomber without metal components are undetectable by standard screening devices such as those used at most international airports.
It has been suspected for some years that doctors and surgeons in Yemen in the service of Al Qaeda in the Arabian Peninsula were experimenting with implanting of plastic explosive devices inside the bodies of suicide bombers or even animals. According to Western counterterrorism sources, the surgeon would open the abdominal cavity and implant the explosive device amongst the bomber’s internal organs.
Some US sources are calling the current threat the most serious since 9/11. They are alarmed by the degree of confidence AQAP leaders show in openly using electronic communications to boast about the unstoppable attack they are plotting.
A senior US official described the terrorists as saying the planned attack is “going to be big” and “strategically significant.” http://www.debka.com/article/23170/US-sources-Terror-alert-prompted-by-suspected-suicide-bombers-with-implanted-explosives-

I would assume this is nitrogen triiodide or any of the various contact explosives you made in Chem 101. (Once dry it will explode with any impact.)

This is hardly rocket science.

I vaguely recall an intense smell of amonia as it dried. Be a pretty solid give-a-way.

All the news types are using words like ingenious and “mastermind” to describe this supposedly “new” chemical explosive and the neanderthals responsible for it. Well, the western world learned how to press hydrogen into helium and replicate the core of the sun some fifty odd years ago and deliver it in something resembling a flying garbage can to any place on the planet. Why we’re playing pat-a-cake with barbarians is a symptom of the sickness of western liberalism

That’s fascinating.

Did it have a color or do you think it would “dye” clothing?

(Sounds maybe too sensitive to actually use like Al Qaeda claims?)

I made this stuff in chemistry class. Its dangerous but not a high explosive. Its very sensitive to contact and they’ll probably blow themselves up before they get to the embassy.
