They headed east on East 151st Street to find a chase unfolding, one man running down the middle of the street, another following with a handgun. The officers ordered the second figure to drop his gun. Instead, another shot rang out.One of the officers fired a single shot. The bullet struck the gunman in his lower left jaw, killing him.Nice shot!

I don’t mean to knock the police in any way, but what kind of a Police Department puts two Rookies a month out of school together to walk a beat.
Wouldn’t it make sense to put an older man with them to teach them the ropes?

What is he doing out after 3 AM?Good question. When I was 14 I had to be in by 10 pm. That was both a rule in our home and the law. Where was this kid's mother and did she know her son ran the streets at all hours of the night?
Where are his parents?
He lived with his mother and "saw his father often".
