0bastard has dissed India, in contrast to Bush, for one thing. And Pakistan is a loathesome country stuffed with very radical Moslems. The very last thing the US gov should do is give OUR weaponry to Pakistan. Better to drop it into the Marianna trench! Well, better to sell it to decent countries or use it ourselves. But better to destroy it than give it to a hellhole like Paki.

I agree that Pakistan is a problematic nation. I still think there is gain in being on speaking terms with it. The reduced tension between India and Pakistan is one example.

One thing we have to remember is that Pakistan’s leadership cannot afford to be seen as too Western. It’s leadership picks fights with us every so often, and this puts it on record as not being in our hip pocket. I think both sides know it, and we sort of dance the dance.

Not many nations would let us go across their borders to take out a man like Osama Bin Laden without consultation, then not seriously freak out about it. Pakistan more or less allowed us to do this.

They also allowed us to send drones over their borders a number of times to clean out problematic nests.

I understand where you are coming from, but I do think some hard choices have to be made at times, and I think we’ve talked a pretty find line between Afghanistan, Pakistan, and India. I’m sure some instances of Obama playing the fool can and should be mentioned. I’m not here to defend him. That’s for sure.
