A head on collision involving two commuter trains in Switzerland has resulted in the injury of 44 people.
The collision occurred between the cities of Moudon and Payerne at about 6:50 p.m. local time, reports said. It is unclear at this point what caused the collision to occur.
"We don't know why this crash happened," Swiss Federal Railways spokesman Reto Schaerli told CNN. "There is currently no train service between these two cities until midnight tonight at least."

And with alternate energy green fuels no less.
Italian scientists discovered that any organic material could be converted to liquid fuel, even spices.
Yes.
They ran the trains on thyme...
LOL - post of the day!
Gotta love those high speed trains .... fits in with the Agenda 21 population reduction requirements.
Anxiously awaiting to hear the names of the train operators from the newly hired ace reporters of the KTVU station in Oakland. (Three old ones were fired last week.)
No.
it is either Atlas Shrugged or Idiocracy.
Italy, Spain and Switzerland in rapid succession. And we haven’t talked about the possibility of terrorist bombs? Seems like some kind of sabotage to me.
What’s with all the train wrecks lately?
That depends on which train reaches the point of intersection first at which point that train automatically has the right of way and is allowed to deduct the first 15 casualties from the accident report.
Train on the main overshot the signal... scary stuff. You can hear the door on the short hood open as the crew bails out... and can see the opposing crew bailing as well.
The bitch of all this stuff is that it comes down to someone simply not doing their job. Class 1 railroads are more inclined to hire brainless zombies off the street before hiring veteran Enginemen and Conductors. The rationale is that the Railroad can then brainwash the recruits to fit their corporate mold... there is little tolerance for common sense or actually taking the safe course of action.
What happens is people are hurt or killed, and the Feds come out with some new regulation, and the railroad embraces it, as it sets a minimum standard that the Railroad will follow... and when something goes wrong, they are not at fault because they are following the law.
It's making things worse and worse out there as far as I am concerned. Every day out on The Railroad feels like being in Afghanistan.
Next thing you know there will be a rash of shark attacks, then pitbull attacks. Brought on by global warming, no doubt.
