Wind turbines ARE a human health hazard: the smoking gun
The London Telegraph ^ | July 25, 2013 | James Delingpole

Yeah, they're, like, really green and safe and good for you…..

How much more dirt needs to come out before the wind industry gets the thorough investigation it has long deserved?

The reason I ask is that it has now become clear that the industry has known for at least 25 years about the potentially damaging impact on human health of the impulsive infrasound (inaudible intermittent noise) produced by wind turbines. Yet instead of dealing with the problem it has, on the most generous interpretation, swept the issue under the carpet – or worse, been involved in a concerted cover-up operation.

A research paper prepared in November 1987 for the US Department of Energy demonstrated that the "annoyance" caused by wind turbine noise to nearby residents is "real not imaginary." It further showed that, far from becoming inured to the disturbance people become increasingly sensitive to it over time.

This contradicts claims frequently made by wind industry spokesmen that there is no evidence for so-called Wind Turbine Syndrome (the various health issues ranging from insomnia and anxiety to palpitations and nausea reported by residents living within a mile or more of wind turbines). Until recently, RenewableUK – the British wind industry’s trade body – claimed on its website: “In over 25 years and with more than 68,000 machines installed around the world, no member of the public has ever been harmed by the normal operation of wind farms.”(continued)

I never see anybody mention wind degradation. The laws of thermodynamics always apply. You can’t get something for nothing.

Maybe by altering wind patterns or sapping the strength from the wind we’ll inadvertently cause localized weather catastrophes which progress into regional then continental and finally world wide.

Wind is not an infinite resource.

Another bad idea from the enviro-nazis. Wind turbines are inefficient, have to be heavily subsidized, kill too many birds and are apparently bad for our health.

The whole notion is a scam, heavily supported by taxpayers and based on a feel-good premise promoted by the Left.

We have hundreds, if not thousands of these things in my neck of the woods. Around here, it is just a way for landowners to get long-term lease payments on ground that is non-arable and non-grazeable.

It's kind of like the CRP program where the taxpayers pay "farmers" of marginal cropland to not even attempt to grow anything.

Actually I read something about that a while back.

Its certainly not magic. Its just a matter of energy conversion from one form to another and the more windmills you have you get diminishing returns downwind.

If they demonstrate that somehow wind turbines in or near the ocean adversely affect whales, they will be dismantled very quickly.

Or the insane ethanol program, which is just another wealth transfer program of the FED GOV.

Ethanol As Fuel - A Net Energy Loss and Humantarian Disaster

Professor Ted Patzek, a geoengineering professor at UC Berkley, initially calculated that producing ethanol results in a 65% energy loss. When he looked at it in more detail, including things like fuel used to produce fertilizer, waste water costs, energy used in transportation and other energies involved in ethanol production he concluded that energy consumption may be as high as six times that produced.

I agree.

And solar farms, too. What are the (unintended) consequences of interrupting the heat of the sun impacting the earth?

I have been waiting for someone to do the calculations.

Until they do, I will make a forecast based on my estimates:
We will all die.

I've wondered if widespread use of tidal power would eventually slow down the moon's rotation around the earth, myself.

Dirty little secrets about wind turbines the Environuts don't want people to know:

1. Wind turbines require at least 90% backup from another power source (coal, LNG, or nuclear power plant).
2. Wind turbines are huge maintenance pigs. They must be serviced every 90 to 120 days to inspect them, tighten connections, top off hydraulic fluid, clean up leaking fluids.
3. Wind turbines last only 20 to 25 years before replacement is needed.
4. Wind turbine farms are huge threats to migrating birds.
5. Wind turbines give off low frequency sounds that are bothersome, even harmful to humans over time.
6. Wind turbines do not provide reliable power to the grid because wind does not blow at a consistent velocity 24/7/365. Turbines operate within a restrictive band to assure that quality power is exported to the power grid. If the wind is too low, you get undervoltage. If too high you get overvoltage. Neither can be used by the grid.
7. Wind turbines are very expensive and require taxpayer subsidies to operate. They are not competitive with current power options.

Have the Dutch ever suffered such afflictions from hundreds of years of living with windmills? Does Don Quixote know about this?

8. And, as soon as the subsidies expire, the wind turbine farm is abandoned...in place.

Also, it is proven that windmills create air vorteces at ground level which, in turn, cause a change in heat patterns which do cause local weather changes.

Sapping the strength from the wind?

I'm not totally sure....but that sound's like some of the left's nonsense.

Someone tell me I'm wrong.
