Democratic gubernatorial candidate Barbara Buono will tap Milly Silva, a Hispanic female labor union leader, as her running mate next week, sources say.
Silva, vice president of SEIU 1199, which represents 7,000 nursing home workers in 74 facilities, will be be Buono's pick for lieutenant governor, according to three sources familiar with the decision who requested anonymity because they are not authorized to discuss internal deliberations. The announcement is expected to come on Monday.

Buono, think Pelosi understudy, full of BS without brains...
And this is when I have to hope the fat RINO wins. Because in NJ, compared to the competition, he’s a rock ribbed flabby RINO -’conservative’.
And he is about the best those Jersey-ites can probably hope for.
Two fleas in a pod...
I got no use for Christie, but Geez, one would think with this kind of opposition he is a shoo-in.
Christie has been considered a shoo-in all along, that's why Barbara Buono became the sacrificial lamb thrown into the race. The better known Democrat politicians all declined to run against him.
Even Cory Booker -- who has favorable ratings nearly as high as Christie -- wasn't brave enough to take Christie on, saying he had promised to finish out his term as Newark's mayor.
That promise lasted exactly as long as Frank Lautenberg lasted -- Booker immediately threw his hat into the ring.
“Even Cory Booker — who has favorable ratings nearly as high as Christie — wasn’t brave enough to take Christie on, saying he had promised to finish out his term as Newark’s mayor.”
Cory Booker would have never come close to beating Christie; the Repubs represent the taxpayers here, and there aren’t enough welfare parasites and teachers in NJ to put Booker over the top. Booker said he would run for Lautenberg’s seat while Lautenberg was still in it (and hadn’t announced he wasn’t running for re-election); I believe that is why Lautenberg’s family is supporting Pallone.
I hope the pandering doesn’t pay off; Buono already bragged about having a dyke daughter, and there are tons of Hispanics in NJ. Add to that the fact that 1/2 the state is female, and it might be a problem.
She is viewed as a lightweight, but so was Obama.
Don’t be too sure. 7000 SEIU members, spread out over 74 different facilities, can assist a whole bunch of elderly, comatose, mentally weak, dementia patients to fill out their ballots for the (D). They have already shown that they understand how to do it, and are willing to do it. Estimate 200 patients per, times 74 facilities, plus the 7000 union members and you have a nice block of votes locked up before the campaign even starts.
But if he loses, odds are he wouldn’t be able to get the GOP nomination for POTUS.
I do not believe he will get the nomination more than Rudy Giulliani had a shot at it. North east is poison. Too bad Utah/Michigan(or, lets just call it mass of two $h!t$) or Arizona wasnt poison.
The RINO coalition will pick a Linsey graham or a Boner.
I’ve long suspected that Booker and Christie had made a back-room deal a while back. Booker wouldn’t challenge Christie in the 2013 governor’s race, and Christie will maintain a very low profile in Booker’s 2014 Senate race (which is now a 2013 Senate race, due to Lautenberg’s demise).
I agree. I think the people of NJ like him well enough to re-elect him. Seems like the DEMS really scrape the bottom of the liberal barrel to find their candidates.
The Mob/LaRaza ticket ping. Thanks SMGFan.
