Congressional panels approve arms aid to Syrian opposition
Washington Post ^ | July 22, 2013 | By Karen DeYoung

The House and Senate intelligence committees have approved CIA weapons shipments to opposition fighters in Syria, allowing the Obama administration to move ahead on the stalled program, senior congressional and administration officials said Monday.

Despite ongoing “very strong concerns about the strength of the administration’s plans in Syria and its chances for success,” the House committee reached consensus “after much discussion and review,” Chairman Mike Rogers (R-Mich.) said in a statement.

Both the House and Senate panels voted on the administration’s plan last week, officials said.

The agreement allows money already in the CIA’s budget to be reprogrammed for the Syria operation, a covert action that President Obama approved early last month. The infrastructure for the program, which also includes training, logistics and intelligence assistance — most of it based in Jordan — is already in place and the arms would begin to flow within the next several weeks. . .

The way these idiots in DC are going the final battle on the plains of Megiddo will come to existence.

Seems the idiots are giving in to the Islamic belief in the 12th Imam. Just wonder how much has been given to each of the Congress Critters to aid in the destruction of the USA by the Islamic controllers.

I had a shock when driving through Green Bay on Velp Avenue Islamic Society of Wisconsin. What the heck?

So it’s legal for Congress to help Al Qaeda? But if someone else does it, they go to jail?

All the people I hang out with think the US should take a hands-off approach to the civil war in Syria. The problem is across the border in Iran. That is where our attention needs to be!

If we don't somehow wrest control from these maniacs, the world is going to burn. This us the craziest thing I can imagine right now.

Anyone wanting on or off this ping list, please advise.

So much for the "war on terror," huh?

11+ years after people lept to their deaths from the WTC, we're about to arm Al Qaeda in Syria. (Don't believe a word of this "arming moderates" nonsense; even the more moderate FSA want an Islamic state, as US war planners are fully aware, and all weapons will end up in AQ hands anyway).

Makes you wonder if the whole "WOT" wasn't a crock to begin with.

The Syrian opposition is very disunited, and so never can succeed. Not unless someone else comes in to fight the war for them, like in Libya.

The warmongers are working on that.

Keep an eye out for more illogical tales of chemical weapons use by the regime "on a small scale" in irrelevant battles, killing a handful of people.

Anyone still stupid enough to think Obama is not a Trojan Horse for Jihadist Islam and every enemy America ever had??

It's not Obama - it's the usual warmongers of the political establishment, both Dem and GOP.

They have their marching orders to weaken Iran and Hezbollah and they'll do as they're told even if that means arming Al Qaeda.

Notice also how concerned western government are about their Muslim citizens going off to fight in Syria for fear that they'll return "radicalized," while at the same time supporting the same people on the battlefield once they get there.

What better way for Obama to shift the blame when the truth finally comes out about Benghazi? If he and warmonger McCain succeed in going to war in Syria, Obama can say that ‘everything’ we have done in running guns to Syria from Libya and to AQ terrorists, was a ‘bi-partisan’ effort. McCain has been in on this treasonous activity from the beginning.

As long as McCain is leading the GOP in the senate....we will never get the truth about Benghazi IMHO.

It is the rinos and GOPe that make me feel the most hopeless that we can ever get our country back on the right track. Every time we turn around, they are protecting and supporting the very people they should be fighting, exposing and impeaching.

Assad’s a no-good, murderous barbarian monster.

His opposition’s worse.

So, of course, the oppostion is what The Won supports.

That logic makes no sense when considering Obama also armed the Muslim Brotherhood and fostered the Islamic takeovers of Libya and Egypt.

Obama allowed for the MB take-over of Egypt because the alternative was telling the army to massacre the people in Tahrir Square.

Allowing for the fall of Mubarek, elections, and trying to work with the MB (while maintaining relations with the army) was seen as the best way to manage the situation. Sure enough, the army coup’d the Brothers, putting Egypt right back to square one.

As for Libya, it provided a welcome distraction from all the US-backed regimes under threat at the time (especially Yemen and Bahrain) since Ghadaffi was deemed more expendable than the other two, and had a small, weak regime (even then it took 6 months for the rebels to win even with air support).

Al Qaeda is more strong and present in Syria than anywhere else in the world right now, and there is NO reason for the US to support the Islamists in Syria other than to weaken Iran and Hezbollah. No reason at all.

Arming combatants actively engaged in War, especially a foreign backed invasion by mercenaries and terrorists, is an Act of War. Doesn't the full CONgress have to declare war first before the President can act?
