I wonder if their suspicion is that the possible fall-out of all this means open season on all the “gangsta’s” out there who daily parade themselves in varying degrees of intimidation. Rather than take a good hard look at what is happening to the hard-wiring of today’s youth with the affects of rap or hard-core metal and ultra-violent movies and video games, the attention on guns and stand-your-ground laws puts the focus on those who try to go about their daily lives not encountering/not offending the over-hyped, judgmentally-challenged youth of today who, for the sin of walking in ‘my ‘hood’ or daring to “disrespect” by making eye-contact, will assail you with a threatening glare or vile words...or worse.

Kids dont were hoodies where I live, not even the black kids. Why dont THEY just call for banning their sale ? Problem solved.

Not everyone’s son who is wearing a hoodie and going to the store to fetch some Skittles and Watermelon drink are under the influence of/habitual users of “Purple Drank”.
That being said, I do talk to my 15 year old [bi-racial] son about his public persona, the attitude he projects and how he wishes to be perceived.
By his actions since he was first elected, he may as well give up on that promise.
I think the mainstream culture in America is way over the “race issue”.
It’s the urban sub-culture and their “leadership” that are holding onto it and fomenting it.

And another thing...FTA: Trayvon Martin's death was terribly tragic. No it wasn't. As the evidence that was suppressed at trial shows, George Zimmerman did Florida a huge public service that night by permanently removing one major-league thug from society. Martin was well on his way to a life of savage crime.

The same thing is gradually happening in Newark NJ; they elected Cory Booker by putting together a coalition of various Hispanics, whites, and “others” (overthrowing the black machine candidate, Sharpe James).
Saw 2 interviews with black women demonstrating in Newark; they were from Irvington & East Orange. They don’t have the numbers for a good old-fashioned riot, and they have a black mayor in Newark who is conspicuously quiet because he is trying to attract businesses and taxpayers to Newark (and these demonstrations aren’t helping).
