Snowden documents could be 'worst nightmare' for U.S. - journalist

Fugitive former U.S. spy contractor Edward Snowden controls dangerous information that could become the United States' "worst nightmare" if revealed, a journalist familiar with the data said in a newspaper interview.

Glenn Greenwald, the Guardian journalist who first published the documents Snowden leaked, said in a newspaper interview published on Saturday that the U.S. government should be careful in its pursuit of the former computer analyst.

"Snowden has enough information to cause harm to the U.S. government in a single minute than any other person has ever had," Greenwald said in an interview in Rio de Janeiro with the Argentinian daily La Nacion.

"The U.S. government should be on its knees every day begging that nothing happen to Snowden, because if something does happen to him, all the information will be revealed and it could be its worst nightmare."

I meant the DHS retiree. I feel like writing a letter to Putin: will you please let him release just a few things right now?

Curious that you mention tracks. Electronic communications leave tracks all over the place. But mechanical documents just have one finger print at a time. As chance would have it the Euro news this week has a story about the Russians placing large orders for mechanical typewriters. They say they are tired of their confidential info bouncing around the ether and are going back to hard copy documents for the important stuff. And I tend to believe that everyone in this country who has really really important stuff to get done doesn’t let it transmit to the web. Computer aided design/manufacturing/production does not have to be tied to the web. I have a machine room that proves that. My stuff is absolutely uncorruptible by an idiot in a Russian airport.

I agree. It may harm our government but not our country. I’m for anything that brings our government misdeeds to light and helps the people of this country get our country back.

Low-information voters getting a grip of the federal government's constitutionally limited powers is the government's worst nightmare.

Ruined?

Obama destroyed small biz, US security,
all hope, all justice, all Law, and honest Elections.
Obama destroyed every Amendment as he micturated
on the US Constitution with the full assent of Congress.

I have the feeling that Snowden showed the Russians that anything on a computer wasn't safe !
Especially since Micro$oft has given encryption keys to 'PRIZM'
That's why they are now doing more on typewriters.
We should all take a lesson !

Greenwald is sounding more and more like your basic wannabe drama queen. Serious case of the “look-at-me” syndrome.

That's it. Greenwald is priming the pump for sales of his fetid fishwrap. Not much more to it than that.

The Only way Snowden could do MORE damage than Obama was if he released documents saying that the USA has covered up aliens, and even that wouldn’t be worse than the damage Obummer has done...

If you have your own uninterrruptable power system (generator), with pure 'sine wave'for 60 Hz , I might agree with you !
However , most people are dependant on public utilities, which permit possible communications (ie: Smart meters).
My own opinion is that Snowden has much more information to spill , and chances are it will be shocking to the American citizenry,
and I look forward to it's release.
I am not sure what is secure , and what is not !

I take it that if something happens to Snowden, he has set up a method by which all the information he has will be released. All these secrets will be out for all the world to see. These secrets could be all our CIA operatives, their locations, secret operations, etc, etc, etc.......everything our govt does not want others to know.

...”Lets take it one step forward :
If almost all elections are now being done via electronics rather than mechanical,
and knowing that mechanical leaves a written record, whereas electonic DOES NOT !,
and since we KNOW that PRIZM reads electonic communications, which CAN BE STORED ,
Perhaps the elections can be ALTERED,
in which case, He who controls ‘PRIZM’ actually controlls the ELECTION ! ,
WITH NO TRACKS !!”...

I have heard this concern from others..Why are people not worried about this? A nation just cannot put blind faith in a government which cannot be trusted anymore.

Yes , with the consent of GOPe (elites)

Remember who votes for which bill, and which is more destructive to the U.S.
and vote accordingly !!

I beleive that Zippy is trying to sabatoge the U.S. economy !
(I am truely embarassed that I actually had to look for the definition of 'micturated' ~ and yes , more than appropriate usage !)

Voting Machines are the ultimate tool for dictators. I have said for years that polls are ran for one reason, to prepare us for the results.

To believe that elections are nor rigged we have to accept that the Republic is no more. Which would you rather believe?

“I’m thinking he has papers proving that Dear Leader is not who he says he is. That would throw the US govt into a chaotic seizure. Wouldn’t that be interesting?”

Bring it on!!! I would love it. The Obama administration and the current congress in a seizure? Wonderful! Maybe we, the people (not the so-called supreme court) can declare that every single law passed since the beginning of 2009 is null and void, unconstitutional.

.
This is the highly biased MSM making such a statement.

Who the hell is the journalist ‘familiar with the data’?

Can he be trusted with it?
