State Attorney Angela Corey fires IT director who raised concerns in Trayvon Martin case

State Attorney Angela Corey fired her office’s information technology director Friday after he testified last month about being concerned prosecutors did not turn over information to George Zimmerman’s defense team in the shooting death of Trayvon Martin.

On the same day attorneys finished their closing arguments in that nationally watched trial, a state attorney investigator went to Ben Kruidbos’ home about 7:30 a.m. to hand-deliver a letter stating Kruidbos “can never again be trusted to step foot in this office.”

The letter contended Kruibos did a poor job overseeing the information technology department, violated public records law for retaining documents, and noted he was questioned in March when the office was trying to determine who had leaked personnel information obtained through a computer breach.

In an interview Friday, Kruidbos denied the allegations in the letter, which was written by Cheryl Peek, the managing director of the State Attorney’s Office.

He said he had acted in good faith about “genuine concerns.” He said he had been proud to work at the State Attorney’s Office and feared the letter would cripple his chances at finding another job to support his family, including a 4-month-old son.

“I don’t have any regrets,” he said, “but I am terrified about the future and what that will end up being.”(continued)

Even in a at will state you have rights against wrongful termination, it’s not as cut and dried as people think.

Looks like Angela Corey wants to be a defendant in a wrongful termination lawsuit.

I would take a guess his work performance reviews do not match his “poor performance” the letter cited.

From a full reading of the article, Corey's office was evidently consumed by paranoia.

I counted at least four other former employees, aside from Kruidbos, dismissed for being "untrustworthy", or some variant thereof.

It doesn't sound like a pleasant place to work...and Angela Corey doesn't sound like a very good person (unless, evidently, you're Bernie de la Rionda).

I'm no expert on this; however, one suspects that the "whistle blower" laws might assist Mister Kruidbos in a heckuva lawsuit.

BTW, I seem to recall that juries are kindly disposed to whistle blowers.

“Corey should be tried and convicted for violating Zimmerman’s rights and then imprisoned.”

Hey Floridians, how about your worthless governor. You’ve managed to have three turkeys in a row. That puts you right up there with Illinois. The only difference is that the Illinois governors manage to be criminal enough to go to prison directly from the governor’s chair! What a disgrace Scott turns out to be.

Paladin2 ~:" Corey needs to retire herself."

I disagree - not retire !..TERMINATE !

Terminate "with cause" , for prosecutorial misconduct , offical misconduct ,failure to disclose information during 'discovery',
malfeasance of office, untimely release of information during discovery, obstructing justice , violation of Zimmerman civil rights to a fair trial, etc.

Penalty : Florida disbarment , and altogether take way her retirement, as well as de la Rond , that was just increased .
Immoral and illegal activity should not be rewarded !

Any trial depends on fairness ~ dont forget that the statue " Justice" is blindfolded .
There is so much pressure on this political "Show Trial" from the Governors office on down, that prosecution beleives they will win "at any cost".
Then .. let it cost them !!
Let the civil lawsuits begin ..(regardless how the criminal charges are resolved ) !!

Lancey Howard ~:" Welcome to the world of Ubama and the scumbag Democrats, Bunky."

I believe these are Jeb Bush holdovers,
in which case they are RHINOe ( elites )
in which case they should be shown the door and brought up on disbarment , criminal , and civil charges.

There are some here that think Jeb Bush would make an good candidate for the upcomming Presidential elections
well , look again, because these are Jeb Bush'es people RHINOe (elites )!!

It seems to me that the entire Florida State Attrny. Office should be investigated by the State Attny. General, or the Feds !

Its one thing to not fight a legal battle fairly
It's another thing to cheat, and they've been caught "Cheating "
Terminate for cause !!
