GOP reaching out to Dems on immigration
Politico ^ | 7/10/13 | JAKE SHERMAN, SEUNG MIN KIM and JOHN BRESNAHAN

The House Republican leadership is reaching out to top House Democrats to assess their support for a piecemeal approach to immigration reform, according to sources involved in the discussions.

The House’s immigration gameplan is to pass individual bills rather than take the comprehensive approach advocated by the Senate.

-snip-

The meeting, and the lack of progress made, is sure to frustrate the corporate interests who are dropping millions of dollars into the effort to reform immigration. There was no real sense about whether the GOP will try to reform the high-skilled and low-skilled visa process, providing a new pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants or how they will tackle the plethora of other issues included in the Senate bill.

Most notably, the party is still deeply divided on what to do about the nearly 11 million illegal immigrants in the country.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), one of immigration reform’s biggest foes in the House, said the division between Republicans who favor some sort of legalization and those who oppose it is “close to 50-50.”

Lawmakers did seem open to allowing children who were brought here illegally to stay in the country.

“I personally think we could begin at least the process of addressing [that] before the August recess,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said of the so-called DREAMers.

Rasmussen yesterday: about 60 to 40 against immigration reform. let them chew on that for a moment. My guess would be among GOP leaning voters it is more like 90 10.

Bonehead here better forget the high wire act he is on. Come back to earth dope or lose about 70% of your base. What does he expect to gain anyway...keeping the big dollar low wage support? That support will NEVER go to the dems anyway. He will lose any support from middle america and any chance to pick up disenfranchised white dem voters who see their party kowtowing to minorities at their expense.

Sounds like we are going to get the House version of the Corker-Hoeven amendment, i.e., a magic bullet that will give the GOP the cover to vote for amnesty. The main objective is increasing the guest worker programs, which their corporate paymasters want NOW. When they speak, the GOP listens.

The most lawless admin in my lifetime (70+ years).

The Law Means Nothing to These People

I have been thinking why aren't the RATs concerned that when the GOP retakes the WH wouldn't the GOP follow in this Admin's lawless ways. IMHO the RATs do not believe the GOP can ever again take the WH.

AND if the gutless GOP cozies up to the RATS on comprehensive amnesty, the RAT party is correct in their assumption of continual WH domination.

How about fixing the problem:

- All donations MUST be made to the candidate themselves
- There shall be no more ‘meet and greet’, excursions, etc., unless it is FREE and open to all.
- Individuals that can vote can donate ALL the $$ they want, with IMMEDIATE posting of such on the web. Failure to post/audit will incur a fine of $1M per each failure, paid by the candidate.
- NO entity that can NOT pull the voting lever can donate penny ONE to anyone running for office.
- ANY entity may spend as much as they want on pro/anti materials (flyers, commercials, radio, etc.)
- ‘Sunshine’ Law for Congress (no more back-room deals)

Sure I left out a few...

” They also said the the GOP house caucus is pretty much split on if citizenship is acceptable, ~ 50 to 50 %, amazing if it is that high for. “

I don’t believe anything these scumbags say about anything.

Our Phone calls are working.

The pressure is not working one bit, because he's trying to compromise and give the Dems what they want in drips and drabs rather than one big deluge, but he is still trying to give them what they want.

This notion that the GOP has to compromise (cave-in) to the Dems is a huge part of why I'm done with the GOP. I want a party that stands up for Conservative Americans, not one that tries to find compromise with the Demonrats, because the Dems are not compromising with us - it's become a one-way street with them.

The GOP has the House, but you wouldn't know it at times.

I’m afraid the only sure way to get rid of boner is for the democrats to take over the house.

I have to wonder what would have happened had the gop not taken the house. Would the people be sick of their crap by now?
