GOP reaching out to Dems on immigration
Politico ^ | 7/10/13 | JAKE SHERMAN, SEUNG MIN KIM and JOHN BRESNAHAN

Posted on 07/10/2013 6:15:35 PM PDT by jimbo123

The House Republican leadership is reaching out to top House Democrats to assess their support for a piecemeal approach to immigration reform, according to sources involved in the discussions.

The House’s immigration gameplan is to pass individual bills rather than take the comprehensive approach advocated by the Senate.

-snip-

The meeting, and the lack of progress made, is sure to frustrate the corporate interests who are dropping millions of dollars into the effort to reform immigration. There was no real sense about whether the GOP will try to reform the high-skilled and low-skilled visa process, providing a new pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants or how they will tackle the plethora of other issues included in the Senate bill.

Most notably, the party is still deeply divided on what to do about the nearly 11 million illegal immigrants in the country.

Rep. Steve King (R-Iowa), one of immigration reform’s biggest foes in the House, said the division between Republicans who favor some sort of legalization and those who oppose it is “close to 50-50.”

Lawmakers did seem open to allowing children who were brought here illegally to stay in the country.

“I personally think we could begin at least the process of addressing [that] before the August recess,” Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) said of the so-called DREAMers.

No to the Nightmare Act and any other amnesty plan.

These people don’t need citizenship. They are already citizens of the countries they lived in before invading our country. Let them return. Then they’ll be legal. They can also apply for a visa at that point, behind those already waiting.

This won’t please Zuckerberg, Gates, the Chamber of Commerce, Home Builders Groups, Lawn Maintenance Lobbies, and the rest of the Big Business America Last crowd. But why should I care about that? With only 47% of American adults having full time jobs, record numbers on food stamps, and an economy like the Great Depression, anyone advocating more mass invasion should themselves be deported.

There should be no tax cuts or exemptions for corporate or welathy people until the borders are secure and the media is fair to us. Until then Rich Liberals should pay thier taxes and even more taxes and if feckless rino corporatists arent going to be any better they need to pay to.

Believe nothing Politico.

Believe nothing from GOP pols. Their specialty is emptying their bladders on the GOP rank-and-file while calling it rain. Politico called the Senate GOP betrayal. Whether these people are in the pockets of the plutocrats or rooting for amnesty out of personal conviction is unimportant. The fact is that they will push amnesty through unless we threaten to end their political careers.

Oh, good grief. So now the take from “OUR” side is that since we didn’t go along with this years boondoggle, we may be finally warming up to last year’s boondoggle? It’s like we’re fighting a never ending war to keep our own party from shooting itself in the foot.

Find it strange when the excuse is being given that while the government knows whats going on in 300 million citizens lives but because the illegals are not citizens and in “the shadows” according to Florida’s Senator Rubio the US doesn’t know who they are or where they’re comming from so we must make them citizens..

THE QUESTION IS SENATORS HOW COULD YOU PASS A 1200 PAGE BILL YOU HAVEN’T READ... THAT HAS A FINE OF $5000 FOR ANY EMPLOYER WHO HIRES A CITIZEN OVER AN ILLEGAL ...WHY ARE YOU SO SET ON IMPORTING LOW WAGE LABORERS MAINLY FROM ONE COUNTRY WHICH TAKE UP JOBS OUR YOUTH AND ESPECIALLY BLACKS COULD BE PERFORMING ?

KNOWING THIS HOW CAN YOU HOUSE MEMBERS PASS ANY KIND OF LEGISLATION THAT MAY HAVE THAT AND AN UNSECURED BORDER COMMING OUT OF “CONFERENCE”....???

FR’s ; are urged to visit their respective Congressional Representatives and let them know their feelings

WHEN IT COMES TO AMNESTY

THIS IS THE MEXICAN PART NO ONE DARES MENTION

If you agree with the above and the following please don’t let it lay here in FR-land. Pass it on to to your favorite talk show host and to your US legislators. PUSH THE HASTERT RULE.

ONE NATIONALITY AMNESTY SKEWS QUOTAS. HURTS OTHERS FROM SOUTH AMERICA, AND SKILLED LABOR QUOTAS FROM OTHER NATIONS ...WORSE YET OFFERING AMNESTY FOR NATIONALS FROM A COUNTRY THAT HAS CLAIMS ON OUR NATIONAL TERRITORY THAT COULD AND HAS TURNED INTO PROBLEMS FOR BORDER STATES CLAIMED BY MEXICO .

In that May 3rd speech Obama gave before the Mexican Anthropological Museum in which he blamed America for the violence in Mexico I believe he went even futhur. There’s a inference but never referenced by name to the Gasden purchase and border settlements US made with Mexico where Obama hinted he seems to side with the Mexican claims. Would those in attendence share that view is a question that should be asked, because I believe they would,.he does. for this regime is working closely with Mexican groups such as LaRaza which support those claims.

SOLVING THE ‘LATINO” PROBLEM A MYTH HISPANIC IS NOT A RACE BUT A POLITICAL LINGUISTIC CONTRIVANCE ...don’t fall into the hyphenated Americans trap created by the hyphenated political party ...The DEMO-COMS

The Mexicans have been getting most favorable treatment above the rest of our neighbors both north and south. They’re permitted to cross our borders and enter illegally and are allowed access to rights of citizenship (with the exception of voting which if the democrat party regains control over the House will happen) other nationals entering this country don’t get.. Worse yet the Obama government has been working hand in glove with Mexican movements such as LaRaza supporting the Mexican claims which are also supporting “Amnesty”.

Also by allowing Mexicans to do this any quota ration for immigration from other south and central American countrys are taken up by Mexicans while that country is laying claim to a large chunk of our sovereign territory is a recipe for later serious problems which are happening now.

ARE MEXICAN ILLEGALS SQUATTERS PERPETUATING THE MEXICAN CLAIMS ?

We are already seeing the result of this in certain areas claimed by the Mexicans. Their national flag (standard) gets displayed over ours. Where there is a controlling number of Mexican nationals (illegals). It’s displayed over certain institutions particularly schools accompanied by riots and disturbances. Blacks are threatend by Mexicans in certain sections of citys in those areas. We’re courting trouble by not placing a value on our sovereignty and our citizenship.

MOST COINS OF THE REALM HAVE TWO FACES WHAT ABOUT HOW ARE AMERICAN CITIZENS LIVING IN MEXICO BEING TREATED ?

Worse yet if a US citizen goes into Mexico never mind illegaly but legally. They’ll get 2nd class treatment. Land ownership in title is prohibited period. And there are a slew of regulations they must comply with. Which doesn’t apply to a citizen of Mexico

THE SOLUTION ASSERT OUR SOVEREIGNTY AND TALK RECIPROCITY .

By not insisting on reciprocity particularly on those who have entered this country illegally we’re offering no incentive for assimilation and we’re not easing the burden for our fellow citizens who for what ever reason decided to live in Mexico.

ENOUGH OF THE ONE WORLD SOCIALISM ...BRING BACK SOVEREIGNTY AND SANITY TO OUR COUNTRY .....BRING BACK BELIEF IN GOD ...THIS GOVERNMENT OUT OUR FACE..... OUR RELIGIONS..... AND OUR BEDROOMS..

keep calling . don’t let up. A lot of fake stories out to make us think it’s over so we won’t keep calling.

Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.

Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.

Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.

Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives won’t vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.

Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3036438/posts

call congress . no bill at all from the House

and of course boner must not bring the Senate bill for the House to vote on. no senate bill, no border security bill from the House .nothing.

In the meeting, which stretched more than two hours, Rep. Tom Cotton (R-Ark.) stood up and delivered a speech about the dangers of entering into a formal conference negotiation with the Senate. Conservatives are worried that the House will be forced to accept the bipartisan Senate bill if they enter into those talks. Rep. Raul Labrador (R-Idaho) said that his leadership must “commit to certain principles on immigration reform and then we can go to a conference. “That’s what we’re coming up with now,” Labrador said.

Planning to go to conference AND

Speaker John Boehner’s (R-Ohio) team isn’t trying to cut a deal with Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), these aides caution. But deeply-divided Republicans want to get a read on what members of the minority party would back when immigration reform comes to the floor.

Wait a minute! Not trying to cut a deal but "want to get a read on what members of the minority party would back when immigration reform comes to the floor."

Assuming Politico is telling the truth, What's wrong with this picture?

RE :”Planning to go to conference AND ...Wait a minute! Not trying to cut a deal but “want to get a read on what members of the minority party would back when immigration reform comes to the floor

A number of sources are declaring immigration reform dead, a few others are still acting optimistic including Paul Ryan. And I see we got a warning from GWB that we must go along.

From what I heard on CSPAN first thing today is that in the House GOP meeting yesterday Bohner promised again to not bring up a bill that doesn't not majority GOP support.

Boehner also warned them that any House bill WITHOUT path to citizenship is DOA, Dems wont accept it (I heard that someplace before), and he told them that they must come around to citizenship or it will hurt their party.

They also said the the GOP house caucus is pretty much split on if citizenship is acceptable, ~ 50 to 50 %, amazing if it is that high for.

Rasmussen yesterday: about 60 to 40 against immigration reform. let them chew on that for a moment. My guess would be among GOP leaning voters it is more like 90 10.

Bonehead here better forget the high wire act he is on. Come back to earth dope or lose about 70% of your base. What does he expect to gain anyway...keeping the big dollar low wage support? That support will NEVER go to the dems anyway. He will lose any support from middle america and any chance to pick up disenfranchised white dem voters who see their party kowtowing to minorities at their expense.

Sounds like we are going to get the House version of the Corker-Hoeven amendment, i.e., a magic bullet that will give the GOP the cover to vote for amnesty. The main objective is increasing the guest worker programs, which their corporate paymasters want NOW. When they speak, the GOP listens.

The most lawless admin in my lifetime (70+ years).

The Law Means Nothing to These People

I have been thinking why aren't the RATs concerned that when the GOP retakes the WH wouldn't the GOP follow in this Admin's lawless ways. IMHO the RATs do not believe the GOP can ever again take the WH.

AND if the gutless GOP cozies up to the RATS on comprehensive amnesty, the RAT party is correct in their assumption of continual WH domination.

How about fixing the problem:

- All donations MUST be made to the candidate themselves
- There shall be no more ‘meet and greet’, excursions, etc., unless it is FREE and open to all.
- Individuals that can vote can donate ALL the $$ they want, with IMMEDIATE posting of such on the web. Failure to post/audit will incur a fine of $1M per each failure, paid by the candidate.
- NO entity that can NOT pull the voting lever can donate penny ONE to anyone running for office.
- ANY entity may spend as much as they want on pro/anti materials (flyers, commercials, radio, etc.)
- ‘Sunshine’ Law for Congress (no more back-room deals)

Sure I left out a few...

Our Phone calls are working.

The pressure is not working one bit, because he's trying to compromise and give the Dems what they want in drips and drabs rather than one big deluge, but he is still trying to give them what they want.

This notion that the GOP has to compromise (cave-in) to the Dems is a huge part of why I'm done with the GOP. I want a party that stands up for Conservative Americans, not one that tries to find compromise with the Demonrats, because the Dems are not compromising with us - it's become a one-way street with them.

The GOP has the House, but you wouldn't know it at times.
