Yes, I think we should ban gum. Who wants to see a bunch of humans chewing their cud like a cow? And the children might emulate it.
I was at a shoot this weekend, got gum on my shoe.
Went to work this AM, got gum on my shoe...
Just damn!
Well, if they’re going to ban smoking on the beaches (where there is usually a lot of air and breezes to diffuse the smoke) for health reasons, then they sure as hell ought to ban laying out on the beach in order to prevent skin cancer, which is continuing to rise. Either no one on the beaches or everyone has to wear long pants and long shirts and a wide-brimmed hat and sit under an umbrella.
Even the best sunblocks allow 3% or so of the sun to reach the skin. Over 6-8 hours of lying on the beach with a UV Index of 10 or greater, you are setting yourself up for a nasty skin condition a few years down the road.
If we looked hard enough, we could probably figure out a reason why chewing gum harms the environment.
i agree if your burning skin smells sickening to others
Hey!
You sound just like Obammie the Commie!
The debate is over. It’s time to pass...

The darn stuff never breaks down LOL
Is it just me or did the author never get back to the full explanation of why the students were pro legalization of drugs but still anti cigarette?
The thing to do, then, is ban filter cigarettes.

When disposable diapers are banned I’ll agree but until then...no way.
I’m for choice. You can smoke all you want, I should not have to pay for the cost of your medical care because of it. You should be free to pay for your own cancer treatments, medical procedures, additional time off because of illness due to smoking. It’s your choice.
I should have the choice of not having my food taste like crap, my clothes and hair smell like an ashtray and my workplace polluted with smokers that take ten breaks a day, plus longer lunches, plus long bathroom breaks and extra sick days because it effects my work efficiency.
You should be able to smoke but you should bear the responsibility of that choice. Private places should be able to be “smoke free”. Employers should be able to have a non-smoker preference and offer non-smokers reduced medical coverage.
I don’t like the idea of the government telling smokers where they can smoke, what restaurants should do, what employers should do and what other private business should do. If a restaurant allows smoking in the seating area, I will probably choose to patronize a place that accommodates the non-smokers. If I am a smoker, I should have equal access to all pubic places and should be able to smoke in the park, on the beach, on the sidewalk just pick up your litter.
I can discriminate, the government can’t. I come from a family of smokers and I hate it.
Many of you are much too young to remember that Ted Kennedy started this whole thing about smoking.
He couldn’t have cared less about peoples’ health. His original intent was to hurt Southern tobacco growers.
If tobacco grew well in MA then there would have been no push against smokers.

The irony is that the anti-smoking zealots are using high cigarette taxes to get people to not smoke and legislatures are depending on the revenue from these taxes.
I just want common sense gum control. Register your DNA and fingerprints when you buy gum, so we can track you down when we find it on the sidewalk or underneath the theater seat.
Hey fatty, we're coming for you next!
