The supremacy clause gives preferences to LEGITIMATE federal laws over conflicting state laws.

The only “turkey” in this story is the governor.
He is a statist donk. Of course he did.
WTH is the matter with the people of Missouri to elect such a tool?
He ran as sort of moderately conservative, sort of.
But he’s spoiling for a fight.
The left has no (apparent) regard for the Tenth Amendment; so I remain quite unapologetic for my having no regard for Article VI, Clause 2 of the US Constitution (a.k.a. "the Supremacy Clause").
Yes, the measure passed by the Missouri legislature was, indeed, an attempt at nullification--a doctrine that has been championed by no less of a luminary than John C. Calhoun.
I continue to be 100 percent in favor of the doctrine of nullification; and I believe that the several states must continue to pass legislation that would nullify federal laws that a majority in those states consider inappropriate.
And those states must remain firm in their opposition to federal tyranny; and that, irrespective of the potential upshot...
Come next door to Kansas where ours was signed in to law.
You are right. However, if he signed it, the liberals would be going for his head. I would not want to be a politician for all the money in the World. First day, half the people disapprove of whatever you do.
I hope this is not the end of it.
Sorry.
Jay Nixon is Anti Gun.
Paging Henry Bowman, please pick up the white courtesy phone....
I hope this is not the end of it.
I hope so, too.
the law means nothing if the office holder won’t use it. hopefully you’ll always have someone there with the stones to properly use the law when it is necessary.
Which the 9th and 10 Amendments were written to supercede said clause. You know what an amendment is, right? It supercedes any clause in the original contact related to a given issue.
I have been a 10th Amendment supporter throughout my political life. It is the end all regarding the "supremacy clause" and "commerce clause". It, alone is the law of the land.
It has the same legal standing as any amendment you put at the end of your will or any contract. The USSC often just ignores that amendment through legalese gymnastics without any review of ORIGINAL INTENT. It is still valid and can only be undone by a Constitutional amendment of repeal. It's the only thing Justice Roberts got right in his Obamacare ruling. It gave some power back to the States regarding the Fedgov and States being dictated to.
As I have stated for years on this board:
STATES RIGHTS! OUR ONLY WAY BACK!
The 9th Amendment apparently didn't get the message through so the 10th Amendment was passed:
"The powers not delegated to the United States by the Constitution, nor prohibited by it to the States, are reserved to the States respectively, or to the people."
Look up the intent of the 9th and 10th Amendments. You'll agree. Research the "supremacy clause" and the "commerce clause" and the "general welfare clause". All have been distorted by over-zealous lawyers and the judiciary.
time for an over ride vote
You still have Sebelius, the Wicked Bitch of the West.
May a tornado deposit a house on her head!
There’s a little girl fighting for her life despite Sebelius’ “Dr. Mengele” inaction which would have surely killed her.
Some people are just plain evil.
He’s most likely connected to the Soros/Hillary/Bloomberg cabal.
Impeach the traitor unless you’re afraid of what some 120-lb, liberal, snake-sucking SOB might say about you in a newspaper that nobody reads.
It passed both houses with a veto-killing majority. It will again.
