At least one Egyptian soldier was killed and two were wounded as Islamist gunmen opened fire on the El Arish airport in Egypt's Sinai Peninsula and at three military checkpoints early on Friday, state television reported.
According to the report, the attackers fired rocket-propelled grenades at the army checkpoints outside the airport, close to the border with Gaza and Israel.
It was not clear whether the coordinated attack was related to the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi on Wednesday.

The list, Ping
Let me know if you would like to be on or off the ping list
Trivial.
The Muslim Brotherhood lost face, marginalizing itself.
Well, it’s a mistake to think they’d just sulk and whimper off in the background. They are responsible for most of the terrorism out there, after all.
It’s a mistake to assume that the MB today has the power that it had last week.
The Middle-East has changed.
The MB props up Hamas, and Hamas is in a life or death struggle against Hezbollah and Assad in Syria.
Without Egyptian money and volunteers, Hamas in Syria will be weaker and Assad stronger.
Losing in Egypt and Syria doesn’t put the MB in a position to start a new war.
Which is to say, the MB can’t do much right now inside Egypt.
Hey! Offer a bounty on the terrorists heads, root em out!
Do the Deck of cards on their asses.
“Its a mistake to assume that the MB today has the power that it had last week.”
Absolutely. But a wounded tiger is still very dangerous.
“It was not clear whether the coordinated attack was related to the military overthrow of Islamist President Mohammed Morsi on Wednesday.”
...and some news organization probably turned down other applicants to hire this brilliant reporter....sigh.
There is no reason to believe that MB will stop attacks on Christians or “moderate” Muslims. Just look at attacks in Iraq, Pakistan, and everywhere else. The only thing to hope for is that the Egyptian military will be able to hunt the terrorists down.
Thanks Nachum.
Obama and the Oligarchs will have no problem turning Egypt into another Syria.
