Why don’t they see the fraud and the deceit? Because no one is reporting it?

Somehow we let another loony Lib in...
A Lib of one flavor is a Lib of all flavors... (and that includes his son too.

I’d vote Juan and Linda, The Flake and Hatch off of the
Island first.

There is still no ush back from the Republican Party.

Obamacare is the law of the land, and must be implemented in 2014. It does not say that the president gets to change the terms of the law, willy nilly, to suit his needs and desires. Yet, he does.

Where are the speeches by the Republicans about the legality of this?

Where are the editorials? Where are the town meetings to talk to the public about the usurpation befor our very eyes?

Where are the press announcements?

Where are the press conferences?

Where are the committee hearings?

Where are the newspaper articles and editorials?

Where are the mailings to the faithful?

Where are the strategy sessions within the caucus to respond to this heavy-handed assumption of power by the executive branch?

Where are the community and party meetings to see what can be done?

Where is the opposition?

The answer is that there is no opposition by the Republicans...The pending holiday is no excuse - the existence of the republic is at stake.

I am here on Free Republic because it is a place where I can communicate with Conservative people, and not Republicans.

"So proud to be here now, I just wish I knew about FR in its early days. Y’all did fantastic work with the White House chants, the So. Florida recount observers ... amazing times."

Ditto. You're hardly a noob, though. Me? Very much one. But I'm humbled to be here, and I love reading FR history.

The TEA Party "officially" began with Rick Santelli's rant, IMHO.

You are exactly right, as far as pinpointing the precise catalyst that gave birth to the Tea Party.

Rush does make a good point, though, that there was a rebellion brewing even before the official launch of the Tea Party, and that Free Republic was a large part of it.

I still think Rick’s Rant was the trigger.

Rick gave it a name.

I believe Obamacare is what really drove folks to attend townhall meetings.

In 1986 I was discussing politics with a friend. He told me “ You sound just like that Rush Limbaugh guy”. All I knew of Rush was a billboard ad in Sacramento that said “Rush Limbaugh is a wonderful human Being” or something like that, but it had fake tomato blotches all over it, as if in thrown in disgust. I thought my friend was insulting me. I didn’t know he was paying me the greatest compliment.
Been listening every day for over 20 years.

I love the background in that picture and I’m not even a cat person!

The red cape is pretty good, many of the Ron Paul people are cult-ish.

The Tea Party is a movement. The movement started long ago.. back during the silenced generation. The emerging modern conservative movement started the process to rescue the Republican Party.

Hell, we lost faith in the Rockefeller internationalist Republicans long ago and at the start of the modern conservative movement; that is why we were for Goldwater in 1964.

.. and the Republican Party movers and shakers had come to the attitude by 1964 that they still have today; to wit, the enemy (the modern conservative movement, today the Tea Party movement) had to be destroyed as members of the human race.

As for two parties.. they were little more than Tweedledum and Tweedledee in those days also.

We had the Coryell County (Texas) Tea Party as early as 2006 to fight exploding property taxes. It is the first mention I ever heard of Tea Party in modern times. We literally ran the Tax Assessor out of the county.

The push back against the RINO's probably started back during Bush number one's presidency. US Reaganites were completely disillusioned with a new compassionate conservative who was neither compassionate nor conservative. Back then the National Review was anti-RINO and wrote quite a few articles critical of Bush the First. Of course that was back when BBS's were still around with their dial up modems.

Back then Rush was just getting his national start. He was instrumental in those days. Those of us living in Los Angeles at the time had to listen to Rush in private. Once a liberal in Hollywood discovered I listened to Rush and he suggested I should also listen to Wally George. Tried to explain that Wally was just a Republican Party hack and Rush was something different. My take was that Rush was a true conservative above the Party loyalty gig.

Then along came Freerepublic, and man oh man, the rest has been history.

Stop me if you’ve heard me tell this story dozens of times...short version...

A friend used to listen to Rush. I would ask her how she could stand listening to that racist. She asked me how did I know he was a racist since I didn’t listen to him. I could only say that I’d heard people say he was racist. She challenged me to listen for one week and then make my own decision.

So, come the following Mon, I braced myself...gagging, hyperventilating, hoping no one would find out I’d tuned in to listen to the racist. Lo and behold, the announcer comes on and says: “And now, black by popular demand, filling in for vacationing RL, Walter Williams.” You could have knocked me over with a feather!!

The rest is history.

Williams will always be my fav fill-in host.
