Morning Bell: 5 Immigration Questions for Members of Congress
Heritage; The Foundry ^ | 7/1/13 | James Carafano and Jessica Zuckerman

Posted on 07/01/2013 6:22:25 AM PDT by Lakeshark

1. Since the Senate-passed bill doesn’t require the flow of illegal immigrants to stop, how can you say this approach secures the border?

No one can make that promise. The Senate bill, S.744, throws tens of billions of dollars at the problem and calls for meeting arbitrary security standards, but it doesn’t guarantee that illegal immigration will stop. **snip**

2. The Senate-passed bill requires the U.S. government to manage many more visas, even though it doesn’t do a good job with today’s smaller work load. So how does this “fix” our legal immigration system?

It doesn’t. The bill makes some changes to various types of visas but does little to fix the broken bureaucracy in charge of the legal immigration system. Without significant changes, new requirements and more responsibilities would only make the system worse.**snip**

3. The Senate-passed bill puts the federal government in charge of enforcing immigration laws, even though state and local governments want to help and would be good partners. Is this federal focus the right approach?

No, giving the federal government all the responsibility is the wrong approach. Immigration and Customs Enforcement has fewer than 6,000 agents, and S.744 does little to augment that. Putting all the authority in federal hands is a surefire way to hamstring enforcement, simply because the federal government can’t do it all.

A million local and state law enforcement officers are ready and willing to help enforce federal immigration law. These officers know their communities best and are already in place. By partnering through programs such as 287(g), state and local authorities can help. Sadly, S.744 ignores them.

A good series of questions (and answers) for your congresscritter. Call today, let them know the bill is bad; no, it's not bad, it's horrible, that you won't support them if they support this bill, that you will help primary them if they don't try to kill this senate bill. NO BILL, NOTHING THAT COULD GO TO RECONCILILATION WITH THE SENATE BILL EITHER!

Only chance to stop the Amnesty bill is for the House not to consider any immigration related bill at all.

Michelle Bachman explained it. ANY House bill no matter if it promises all the border security in the world will be a trojan horse.NO bill at all must come out of the House because it will be merged with the Senate Amnesty and trojan horse bill. Call congress.

Tell them to stop all Amnesty or immigration bills.they are all trojan horse bills. some will promise border security that will never be enforced anyway.

Bachmann explained it . The House will write a border security bill only . then in conference the senate will add the virus and then bring it back to the house. then the conservatives won’t vote for it but democrats will all vote for it so then they only need 10% of republicans to pass Amnesty and the virus that will destroy America. so any bill at all will be added the virus . so best thing is for Boner to not let any immigration bill at all come out of the House. that is the only hope . call boner and the members of the House.

Tom Tancredo echos what Michelle Bachmann said.

call congress . no bill at all from the House

This issue could be put to rest if the House would not bring it to the floor for a vote. Just let it die.

With ObamaCare being the train wreck that it already is, I wish the buffoons would tell us how they intend to add 33.1 million foreigners to the ObamaCare rolls.

If anybody wants to stop the Amnesty bill then dial 202-224-3121, then get operator.. It might take a few times before you actually get to the operator. Then say “Speaker Boehner’s office please” and they’ll connect you to his answering machine.

Repeat for other congressmen such as Trey Gowdy

Tell them in the House not to consider ANY immigration bill at all because the Senate will merge it with their Amnesty bill in conference

Come on now. You have to give them time to READ the bill they’ve passed before you can expect them to be able to answer real questions about it.

I’d expect that their staffs might have read it by the time their summer break is over - maybe.

Over 44 billion in “initial funding”. If they have no plans to secure the border, what’s all the money for?
New Volts for newly minted Americans? More guns for the cartel?
How ‘bout letting us in on the secret, seeing as it’s our money.

NO IMMIGRATION BILL. A bill that will ONLY secure our borders. There is nothing else to talk about.

Dear Mr. Speaker,

KILL the Senate’s BILL without writing ANY substitutions which will immediately go to reconciliation.

PLEASE heed Sarah Palin’s words regarding a Third Party if the Republican controlled House doesn’t fulfill its duty to stand for us and our Constitution.

This is a repeat of 1986 with even worse democrats and worse Republicans in the Senate and now with the added Homeland Security in charge.

We’re not stupid out here. We’re watching EVERY move.

Counting on you. Don’t let us down or our Republic is gone and you know it.

The GOP is hanging by a thread, but that won’t matter in the least if any bill goes to reconciliation.

Signed,

Me

How thoughtful of the the Senate RINOs to do the bidding of the smirking Chuckie Schermer. I saw a picture the other day and wished I kept it to post here of Juan McCain and Schumer hugging and laughing after the passage of this bill that no one voting in the Senate read.
