Given the friction and financial woes facing the Girl Scouts these days, perhaps it's time for a giant friendship circle. Under that long-standing tradition, a ring of Scouts clasp hands and give a little squeeze, accompanied by a silent wish of good will.
Just a year after its centennial celebrations, the Girl Scouts of the USA finds itself in a different sort of squeeze. Its interconnected problems include declining membership and revenues, a dearth of volunteers, rifts between leadership and grassroots members, a pension plan with a $347 million deficit, and an uproar over efforts by many local councils to sell venerable summer camps.
The tangle of difficulties has prompted one congressman to request an inquiry by the House Ways and Means Committee into the pension liabilities and the sale of camps.
"I am worried that America's Girl Scouts are now selling cookies to fund pension plans instead of camping," wrote Rep. Bruce Braley, D-Iowa, in a letter last month to the committee chairman.
Compounding the problems are tensions at GSUSA headquarters in New York, where several senior executives have quit or been ousted since Anna Maria Chavez took over as CEO in 2011. Last week, some of the roughly 325 employees there were invited to take early retirement, and Chavez said an unspecified number of layoffs were expected in August to offset the revenue losses.

The GSA & lesbianism are probably nothing new nor a 70’s feminist thing. When I was a Scout I remember seeing a 1961 Girl Scout calendar which depicted their activities. Even at age twelve I noticed in the monthly photos just how mannish the GS leaders seemed. Not just older than the girls, but larger & boxy framed with close cropped hair. Very strange looking to a kid.
Anyway, the BSA/GSA now belong to the spirit of the times. And that’s not good.
Odd...I don’t recall ever stating my opinion was any more important than anyone else’s. Or ‘important’ at all. Could you refresh all our memories and point out where I did?
And while you’re at it, see if you can find a logical flaw with anything I posted here. If you cannot, then why exactly are you complaining?

Agreed. Further what I call the “conquest” has been on going since the 1930’s. It started out slow and increased until the peak was reached in 2008. Every American institution; education, religion, business, science(Global warming!),political, art and literature, media, etc. is controlled by leftist non-Westerners. Some conservatives are attempting a rear guard action and may win some battles. However, normal political means cannot overcome the un-American control as it is too entrenched. In addition, most Americans are morally unable to resist and those fit to resist are disorganized. Basically it looks like the war is lost.
I went to the link and read the brochure and it was not easy. (Thought I was shock proof. NOT) It is published by the International Planned Parent Federation, based in the UK. It seems to be aimed at young people with HIV.
Any GS leaders who passes out this horror to little girls should be jailed.

The Girl Scouts used to be good. Then they let in the lesbians and Planned Parenthood. Which is why daughter is in American Heritage Girls instead.
The number of troops have been rising for AHG, but the drop in Girl Scout numbers doesn’t quite match the American Heritage Girls rise.
Of course, some girls are just switching to sports and academic clubs instead of Girl Scouts.
Well, collapses like this are meant (among other things) by God to remind people that only God saves. Everything else loses.
