Schumer predicts mass demonstrations if House blocks path to citizenship By Alexander Bolton - 06/23/13 10:00 AM ET

A senior Democratic senator predicted Sunday there could be massive demonstrations in Washington if House Republicans try to block a bill to grant legal status to millions of immigrants.

Sen. Charles Schumer (N.Y.), the lead Democratic sponsor of the Senate immigration reform bill, said House Republicans would likely spark massive civil rights rallies if they try to quash measures to create a pathway to citizenship for illegal immigrants already in the country.

“This has the potential of becoming the next major civil rights movement. I could envision in the late summer or early fall if Boehner tries to bottle the bill up or put something in without a path to citizenship — if there’s no path to citizenship, there’s not a bill — but if he tries to bottle it up or do things like that, I could see a million people on the Mall in Washington,” Schumer said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Schumer said business leaders, evangelical leaders and CEOs of high tech companies would join the public call for action by the House on immigration.

Schumer has counted about 67 votes for the Senate immigration bill and believes close to 70 will support final passage later this week.

“I do believe that having a significant number of Republicans will change the dynamic in the House. Individual Congress members from red districts, if they see their senators voted for it and they decide to do the right thing, there will be huge pressure on [Speaker John] Boehner [R-Ohio] not to block immigration reform,” said Schumer.

Schumer predicted that Boehner will have to bring legislation very similar to the Senate bill to the House floor, even if a majority of his conference would not support it.

“He will have no choice as the pressure mounts over the summer,” Schumer added.

He said Boehner would have to abandon the so-called Hastert Rule and bring legislation granting legal status to millions of illegal immigrants even if less than half of the House GOP conference is willing to vote for it.

As the conservative Center for Immigration Studies points out, “Illegal aliens will be rewarded for breaking laws for which American citizens are routinely punished” such as the use of fraudulent Social Security cards, while imposing a $1,000 penalty that “in many cases would be waived. Then they would be issued a new Social Security number without any past bad credit or arrest records.”

TALKING POINTS---Just before the IR procedural vote, Judiciary Committee member Sen Grassley offered a simple amendment to the Judiciary Committee considering voting the immigration bill out of commmittee. "The secretary (of homeland security) may not grant registered provisional immigrant status to an alien under this section unless the alien fully discloses to the secretary all the names and Social Security account numbers that the alien has ever used to obtain employment in the United States," said Grassley's amendment.

Grassley's amendment would not have prohibited illegal aliens from being converted into legal aliens just because they had used names and Social Security numbers that did not belong to them. It would only have required that the illegal aliens make the names and numbers they used known to DHS before they could be granted the right to legally live in the United States.

Grassley said, "Congress should not thumb its nose at the millions of Americans who are victims of identity theft, often perpetrated by an undocumented person who steals Social Security numbers to get jobs, govt benefits, driver's licenses and more. This amendment will simply require the person applying for RPI status to disclose any previously used Social Security numbers," said Grassley. "It's the first step to helping clean up the mess that's been created for the victim of identity theft. The amendment also authorizes certain federal agencies, upon receipt of this information, to notify individuals who were the victims."

===============================================

ON RECORD AS AIDING AND AETTING FELONIES Ranking member Sen Schumer dismissed Grassley's proposal. "When people are living in undocumented status, there are times, I suppose, when they've made up identities, made up Social Security numbers," Schumer told his Judiciary Committee colleagues. "How are they going to remember all that, and are we going to delay RPI status? "(The) purpose of this bill is to bring people out of the shadows. We all know when they lived in the shadows, they had to forge documents, forge Social Security numbers, et cetera. I just don't see how, when you've lived here 10 years, and you've had many different identities, many different numbers, you're going to remember them all," said Schumer.

==========================================

The Senate Judiciary committee defeated Grassley's amendment 8 to 10 on a party-line vote.

=======================================

ACTION ALERT Freepers should mobolize locally--get grand juries to begin indicting these Senators for FAILING TO UPHOLD THE LAW AGAINST FELONIES. A few convictions and imprisonment oughta wake up the treasonous Congress. KEEP IN MIND---those elected to office are held to a higher standard of law than we peons....but have never been held to account.

We keep hearing about the illegal immigrants going to the ‘end of the line’ my question is WHICH line?

Is it end of the line of a few Mexicans that have applied LEGALLY for entry...That line?

OR is the line of millions around the world who have applied LEGALLY to enter the United Stakes and STILL waiting?

IMO, it’s a question that should be asked of the Eight “gangsters’ to define EXACTLY.

In 2006, Congress defeated an immigration bill similar to the one being considered today, yet there were NO MASS DEMONSTRATIONS by illegal Hispanic immigrants following that defeat.

Not even a little angry Mexican flag waving in Washington that anyone remembers.

The question is, WHY does this year’s immigration bill seem to have a greater chance of passage than the one in 2006?

In fact, since we’re now in a recession with millions of Americans out of work and needing jobs, you’d think a law inviting 12 million new job seekers into the country would have much LESS chance of passage than the 2006 version did when there was virtually full employment.

So what has happened in Congress since 2006?

For one thing, in 2006, Republican Senators Marco Rubio and Jeff Flake had not yet been elected to stab their fellow Republicans in the back by joining the two so-called Republican mavericks, John McCain and Lindsey Graham, in an infamous bi-partisan Gang of Eight, at Chuck Schumer’s urging, to actively promote Chuck Schumer’s wildest immigration dreams to other similarly disloyal Republicans who might need a little push before betraying their constituents.

This isn’t only about immigration now. It’s about the Republican party. The lowest circle in Dante’s hell was reserved for sinners who betrayed their benefactors, e.g., Judas and Brutus. Betraying their benefactors (their Republican constituents, donors, campaign workers) has become a way of life for Republicans like Marco Rubio, John McCain, and their followers.

Someday they will rot in hell. But in the meantime, we must fight them. We’ll see who they are when the votes are finally taken.

"I could see a million people on the Mall in Washington,” Schumer said on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

In more Common Sense times, this would be a great way to load them on busses, and head them back to the border, since they're all (the Illegal squatters) Law Breakers and don't belong here, period.

A Bounty on each of $1000 would save Taxpayers a pile of money, and would be the proper "signal" to send to those who think you just have to sneak into our house, and you WLL then be "Family", and entitled to support, housing, food, education, medical care, etc.

THIS is what the Left has done, to increase their Power, and secure their Votes (same as they've done to each Constituency they spend taxpayer money on to buy their vote, whether it's faggots/dykes, criminals, blacks, Muslims women, etc.)
